"Dear Dan" Letters

january 2005

My prayers and thoughts are with you! I've appreciated so much of your work.. and can only hope that you fight through this to live a full life filled with Love, friends, music, and Nature's beauty!!! Be strong! Thanks for your gifts of music throughout my life! God Bless! ~ Ed Ward, Southern California

Dear Dan, I would like to wish you and yours a very Happy 2005! May God Bless and Keep you and hold you in the palm of his hand! "For He will raise you up on eagle's wings, bear you on the breath of dawn, make you to shine like the sun, and hold you in the palm of His hand." May God Bless you, Jean your friends, and family during this time of healing. Much Love and Peace ~ Laura Boughner

Dan, I pray that you are recovering from your illness. In June of 2003 you played a concert at Raleigh, NC, that I had every intention of attending, except, as president of the Piedmont Blues Preservation Society, I could not miss our 17th Annual Carolina Blues Festival, which was scheduled on the same night! As a blues lover yourself, I am sure you can relate. I saw your set list for that show and cursed my bad luck; from what I read, the show was excellent. I still hope to see you perform in concert again some day. Please stay well. I'm pulling for you, big guy, as a life long fan and a fellow Peorian. Take good care ~ John Amberg, Greensboro, NC

Dan, As the new year starts, I wish you and your family wishes of happiness and good health. My thoughts, prayers and wishes for you to have a speedy recovery so you can continue with everything that you love...your family, your music and the nature that influences the music. Take care. ~ Chris here in Illinois

Dan - You have been one of my favorite artists for the past three decades. Your melodies are so hauntingly beautiful and your lyrics poetic and cerebral. I vividly remember listening to your music during high school and college, and today it takes my back to those times in my memory. I have seen you in concert three times, once in my home-town of Macon, GA in an awesome acoustical venue. Today, when I learned of your prostate cancer diagnosis, I could not get you off my mind. You are someone who has meant so much to me musically. As a physician, I am telling you that you can beat this thing. Get good sound medical advice and treatment, and don't be afraid to get a second opinion if necessary. Before long this dark time in your life will be over and you will be creating great music again for all of us to enjoy. I will be thinking of you often, especially during my quiet moments with God. ~ Dr. Cameron Pridgen, Macon, Georgia

Dear Dan, Your music has meant so much to me over the years. I feel as though I came of age with your music as the background to my life. I learned to harmonize singing along with you, and consequently singing became a great joy for me (even if it's only in my kitchen fixing dinner or hanging clothes on the line.) I rocked my son to sleep with your music. Simply put, your music has been a gift to my soul. Thank You. Thank You. Thank You. Please know that you and your family too, are in my prayers on a daily basis. May this year bring you health, love and light.Get Well =) Sincerely ~ Lisa Jones-Arant

Many prayers, and much love to you, for all that you have given me over the years Dear Friend. ~ Kym, Frostburg MD.

Dan, I hope you are enjoying your winter wherever you may be.I am very hopeful for the same for your family members and friends who are going through "These Days" with you. You are simply the greatest singer songwriter to reach "this Heart" in a special way. You have truly directed me to think out what roads to take in life. You have been through many of the same things we all have but you seem to be able to open the books that are our lives. Like the line "every time the sky begins to snow you cry". Back in my youth I had a love so strong that every change of season here in Illinois made me sad to think of the things we had done together now that distance kept our relationship from happening. These feelings that are brought to light through your songs are a cleansing for my soul because you always have a good ending. You love life, you love music, you are prolific, you are God's creature and he created you to do such wonderful things for people like me. That makes you very special not only to us, your fans, but to Him. You are not one of those musicians that are about money. You looked down into that frozen stream and saw the face of a child in the reflection. A child with a flair for life where nature and every thing around you fits and is a "Part of the Plan" . Get well and come back to me in song anew, but if you can't I will be content because you are so complete. God Loves you so and so do I. ~ Glen Bernard, Shorewood, Illinois

Dan, I have been listening to and loving your music since I was a child. I am 20 now and it still means so much to me... You are in my thoughts and in my heart. I am not one to pray very often, but I will sincerely be praying for your healing. Love ~ Elizabeth Miskell

Dan, I love your music, I feel like am talking to myself here, this is so strange but sad at the same time. Your music is so much apart of my soul. God bless ~ Tucson, Az

Our prayers and thoughts are with you Dan. God Bless ~ The Loudermans of Arvada Colorado

All my prayers and wishes go out to you. I have every album you have ever made (yes, album, ) and I am duplicating it with my CD collection. {I must admit that probably 'dates' me. I was looking up a record store in the phone book one day to buy a new CD and under "record" it listed, "See antiques". Sh*t!} I "discovered" you in college. I have marked the times of my life with your music. In November, 2003, my sister was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer. In 10 years, there are only 100 documented adult cases. As of today, she is cancer free. It has not been an easy journey, (3 brain surgeries and a course of radiation), nor a journey I would wish on anyone, but this journey can be successfully accomplished. Keep your sights set on today, because, as the good book says, tomorrow will take care of itself. Know you and your family are in my heart and daily prayers. "Don't look down!" Much Love ~ Karen Moyer

Lots of good wishes and a speedy recovery to you, Dan. We have been your fans since the 60's. Take care and get well soon! Love ~ Wally & Diane Pekus, Rimforest, CA

Dear Dan...Back in around 1974 or 1975 you used to play guitar and jam with my friend Bobby Webb...you were both in Boulder. Bobby later gave me Home Free because he was so happy for you. I feel like I know you because of that connection. I wish you peace, joy and strength for you and for Jean. God speed, dear man. ~ Maudie

Dan, I've listened to your albums since I first heard of you in the 70s. I have been to many of your concerts, listened and watched as you played and sang, completely in awe of your talent. For the past 5 years or so, my wife and I had tried to make it an annual event to attend one of your concerts once a year in a different part of the country, once you beat this thing and start touring some again, we hope to continue this tradition! I prefer your acoustic concerts when it's just you, your guitar and piano. However, we saw you in Portsmouth, VA a few years ago on your anniversary tour and the band you'd put together for that tour was unbelievable - you guys played with surgical precision. I'm a singer/songwriter and your lyrics and musical composition have always been out there in front of me like a carrot on a stick! I'm sure there are countless others that would say the same thing. I hope to have the opportunity one day to shake your hand and say thank you. ~ Fred Black, Burlington, NC

Hi Dan, I'm just another face in the crowd here, but I want you to know that you've been in my prayers for years, long before this illness. Your music has been part of my life since high school, and your lyrics, music and production have been examples of quality that I've tried to follow in my own writing, playing and recording. All my best wishes for you and your family - I hope you beat this thing and come back stronger than ever to stay with us for many more years. ~ A friend in MA

Dan--BEAT this thing and get back to work. The sad state of the majority of most "popular" music these days cries out for the need for truly inspired and talented ARTISTS like you to help it retain SOME measure of integrity, albeit a tall order. YOU are one of the central reasons I just bought guitars for my four kids, ages 7, 6, 4, & 2 (we have another on the way too, a girl :)). You are a true original, we love you, and want you back SOON. ~ Steve in Connecticut

Dear Dan, I have been thinking of you often since hearing about the diagnosis. I could send a long e-mail but suffice to say that you have affected my life with your music (as you have touched many), and I am praying for you. All my love ~ Gretchen in Oregon

There is life after cancer! Prayers for you and strength for your fight. ~ Linda Webb, Oklahoma City, Fan & cancer survivor

Dear Dan, You have always been my favorite music artist since I was in high school when Home Free came out. So I'm one of the ones that has to have a baby sitter to come to your concerts! I got to see you when you were at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville on the Nether Lands tour and again on the Phoenix tour at Starwood. You are such a wonderfully, talented person and I thank God for giving you such a fantastic gift and I thank you for choosing to share it with us! My thoughts and prayers are with you for a full and speedy recovery. And I'm looking forward to many more concerts and album buying! God bless you. ~ Kathy, Nashville

Dear Dan and Family, Best of wishes in your fight against your illness. I was recently married and "Longer" was the song we first danced to. Beautiful lyrics and harmony make my eyes tear up every time i hear it. Have hope and know you can win this battle - dan m.

Dan, Our prayers are with you and your family. Hope to see you on tour soon.~ Paul M., MA

Dear Dan, Please accept my and my family's prayers and wishes for a full recovery. In 1979 I began playing the guitar and you were an idol and inspiration to me and I know countless others. I had the fortune of seeing you in concert long ago in the early 1980's at the Nassau Coliseum. It was a guitar player's dream to see just you, your guitar and a piano and the beautiful music that you perform! All the best! ~ Joe Krol

A Prayer for you and your family, and hope for a full recovery. Your music has been a source of peace in my heart and soul. May God bless you for all you have given us!

Dan, I've loved your music forever and just wanted you to know my thoughts are with you. My dad just completed a successful battle with prostate cancer, so there is hope. ~ Katie Roche -- Colorado

Dan, good wishes from a big fan from Holland. ~ Jose

Dear Dan, I just visited the web site with all the good wishes and prayers for you since your diagnosis. I wish I could say I'm amazed, but being a long time fan of your lyrics and artistic talents, I am truly not surprised. I have seen you numerous times across these United States, the most impressionable time being an acoustic performance in Peoria. I also was in attendance at a benefit baseball game with the Cubs farm club in Peoria. God Bless you with a speedy recovery. ~ Cheryl

Dearest Dan, Eleven years ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer. would be a "AC". Doctors were talking to me using terms such as "mortality rate", "mastectomy" "chemotherapy", etc. I was scared and angry. These were words I never wanted to hear attached to my life. I wanted to be anywhere except for inside my skin. The future seemed so bleak. Let the poison already inside my body kill me or let the docs give me more poison to kill the poison already inside of me. What a decision. "...I stood at a fork in the road, my choices were clear yet I froze with the fear of not knowing which way to go. One road was simple, acceptance of life, the other road offered sweet peace. When I made my decision my vision became my release." It was these words, YOUR WORDS, that encouraged me to fight for my life no matter what it took. I have been cancer free for 11 years. Chemotherapy and all that goes with it really sucked, but it was like walking through hell so that when you got to Heaven you know you've made it.

Now my "soul rises and sings anthems to glory and anthems to love and hymns filled with earthly delight like the songs that the darkness composes to worship the light". I am truly blessed. I was kept alive with music, medicine and prayer and I know that it's going to work for you, too. If I could write an incredible, awe inspiring poem for you like you did for me...well, I'd do it in a heartbeat, however since you are Dan, the poet, and I am Tami, the attendance clerk, I will have to offer you my sincerest of prayers. God Bless you. Thank you for your inspiration. ~ Tami Hall

Dan, Thanks so much for all that you have done for the many people who listen to and love your music. I have been inspired by you & your music. My faith & prayers are with you and your family. The is a magic every moment and I hope and pray you have a speedy recovery! Love ~ Lisa

Dear Dan - Your music has been swimming in my head a bit more loudly since Nebraska's first snow fall of the new year and the season. It's always playing, but resonating more deeply these past months. The deep white stuff reminds me of a snow storm decades ago during a drive into the Rockies for a youth group ski trip. I had a sick friend sitting on my lap, aching from a growing pain that she feared would--and eventually did--steal away her hopes for motherhood. We shared a "new" Sony Walkman cassette player with dual headphone jacks. We listened to The Innocent Age over and over again as the van in which we rode slowly made its way on the slippery, covered mountain roads. Embracing my friend, doing my best to rub away the aches and keep her warm, we listened to your words and music as the snow fell on those treacherous roads. I recall thinking that should the worst happen--should we somehow careen off those slippery roads to a snowy end--we were filled with a quiet joy for life, God's creation, and the Art that you shared to describe both so well. When the dark night seemed the worst, the light of your music shone through it, all the more brightly. I have always been grateful to you for that lasting gift of clarity and peace.

As you experience the twists and turns of this illness, please know that you are surrounded by the connected love and gratitude of your listeners. We are sending you peace, energy, and the power to fight and journey as you will. It's right that the love and energy you've nurtured in your listeners be returned to you. Full Circle is in the player right now. The circle of life is so apparent, as it sounds so much (to me) like Home Free. Thank you for sharing your gift of music and words. I look forward to more. You have changed--and continue to change--the world with your gifts. God bless you, Dan, and your loved ones. We are with you as you are with us, in each tone, note and syllable. ~ Phil Whitmarsh, Lincoln, NE

Dan, We are praying for a full and speedy recovery for you. Your songs are soft and calming in an all too busy world. Know in your heart that your words have touched many. As a resident of Kentucky each May we especially enjoy "Run for the Roses." You are in our hearts and on our minds. ~ John and Maryann

Dan, I recently for Christmas, got a note card with a gift from a long time friend of mine. The note said she wanted to give me something to make me smile, something we shared together and something to make my holidays much happier. The gift was your 4 disc "PORTRAIT". The first thing I did was smile. The next thing I did was put your disc in the player and call my friend. What a wonderful conversation we had remembering times together with the music you provided to us during the years. I saw you at a concert in Nashville, TN one time years ago and you came down the tunnel right by me. I yelled, "I love you Dan" and you actually looked up at me. My friend and I still laugh at my display and the fact that I was just sure you were sending me a look of "I love you, too". You have brought wonderful music to me and the world. My brother, Seth, was the original household Fogelberg fan, but I quickly picked you up as well as passing you along to my friends. Thank you, Dan, for the memories you have given me and so many others. My prayers are with you and your family. I lost my mother to cancer and donate yearly to the ACA. I hope you will be back with us soon on a tour. Count on me to be there! ~ Paula Sparks, Texas

Dear Dan, When in high school, my sister and I purchased your Nether Lands album. We did not know anything about you, we were only drawn in by the cover and a feeling...Well, we listened to that record until we literally wore it out and marveled at your talent to play all instruments and write your incredible lyrics. We were hooked for life and have bought everything you have done before and since. I know that the positive energy you bring to your songs can be re-created as you fight your illness. Healing has come to me many times through your words and melodies and I believe that you can heal yourself through those same means. I send my positive energy and prayers to you and thank you for the richly textured music you have shared with me and many. Your songs have often been the background music that has played through some of my most meaningful times of my life. My sincere best wishes to you ~ Jan Graham

Dear Dan, It is with extreme confidence that I say I have no doubt whatsoever that you will beat this disease. Your work is not finished. Besides, I know that the Lord would never silence a voice as beautiful as yours. Not when you are needed now more than ever. With the economy and the world in a sad state of affairs, many more people are going to look to your work as inspiration as well as guidance. You have many more beautiful songs to sing and I look forward to them. You have been a part of my life since I first heard Souvenirs way back when. Thanks for all the times you and your music have been there for me when I needed it the most. From my family to you and yours, may God bless you. Get well soon. ~ Mark Walker, St. Petersburg, Fl

Dan - Best of luck for a speedy recovery.~ Brian

Dear Dan, Jesus bore our sicknesses, not just our sin; The gospel's true, it's no fable; So God wills to heal those who believe in Christ:, know he's willing and he's able.Be encouraged today...we're praying for your speedy recovery. ~ Mike

"Wishin' on the moon" for you and your family! May 2005 bring you and your family the peace, harmony and health you all deserve. I believe in your music and spirit, thus look forward to seeing you perform soon...May God bless you and your family. ~ kevin

Dan, Thinking of you and Jean so often and wondering how you are progressing with your treatment. When the time is right, please give you fans an update. I sincerely hope your privacy is being respected. ~ Becky in Texas

Dan - You have given me so much joy throughout the years. Your music is such an inspiration and so beautiful. I listen to you almost daily and my husband fell in love with your music 15 years ago when I took him to one of your concerts. We will keep you and your family in our thoughts and prayers. Keep fighting and we'll see you at your next concert in Southern California!! XOXO ~ Robin - CA.

Dan, I have always enjoyed your music, and until recently, was not aware of how much! I was aware that many of your songs that I enjoyed so were in fact your song. A coincidence (God incidence, in my book) sent me to the internet -- and WOW, did I find stuff. In your song to your Dad, you state that you "... just a living legacy to the leader of the band." Wow, what a legacy! I also found your "not so good" news, so count me in as one of the many with you in my thoughts and prayers. Cheers ~ Bill Brown, Fellow Coloradoan

Dan, since the first time I ever experienced your amazing gift, your lyrics have reached into my heart and your music has caressed my soul. As a cancer survivor I pass on this little piece of wisdom to you - cancer is just a stumbling block - it will never define your life. Know that you will overcome it. May God bless and keep you all the days of your life.~ Tina C. Herkimer, NY

Hi Dan, I'm a fan from London Ontario. Actually, I got converted out in Halifax, you might say; it seems a million years ago now. Well, I hope you are feeling OK and your treatment is the best. No-one's ever suceeded in turning me into a Christian, so a prayer from me's worth beans. Get the best treatment and you're most likely to get better. That's a no brainer. I'm doing a patent search for a prostate cancer treatment as we speak. The Big Research Machine goes on. You pray for you. The Big Research Machine will keep on rolling to ensure there's something worth praying for. ~ Susan

Dear Dan, Thinking and praying for you, my favorite poet, every day. I love you ~ Joan

To a true American Original, Your music has touched the souls of many (mine included), and for that I thank you very much. I will never be able to repay you for what you have given me. You have touched a place in my heart that few have and feel that your music has become a part of me. While most of us will only be remembered by our families and friends (and for only a short time after we are gone from this earth), those like yourself will be remembered for your body of work forever. My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours. God Bless You and Thank You. ~ Larry

Dear Dan, I just wanted to send my sincere wishes that this New Year brings you a full recovery, and I will keep you in my prayers. We need special people like you in this world with your beautiful, magical music. Warmest regards ~ Janice in Massachusetts

Greetings from Spain, Dan. In the late seventies a friend of mine lend me the "Souvenirs" album. Since then it is one of my all time favorites. You have a lot to give us yet. Best wishes from Spain!!! ~ Txemari

Dan, Best wishes for a happy, healthy 2005 for you and your family. You are in my thoughts & prayers daily. ~ Suzy

Dan, I grew up inspired by your lyrics. Your music was something to disappear into in my desperate teenage years. I still look to those words for guidance, even though I am older (but not wiser.) I will never forget what each of your songs meant to me during that awkward age. I recently was lucky enough to see you on public television in Iowa, and thought how well you looked. I will say a prayer for your health, and look forward to future (albums, I still call them"albums"... sorry) cds and I wish you the best of everything. ~ Kathi

Dear Dan, Hoping every day brings new hope and promise. Our prayers and warm thoughts are with you. My wish for you is to get better soon and keep singing your lovely songs. God has been watching over you and answering all our prayers.Hopes for a speedy recovery. Peace be with you. ~ Karima.

Dan, just wanted to send along my best wishes and heartfelt prayers for a full recovery.I'd also like to thank you for all the hours of pleasure that your music has brought to me and my family over the years. Thanks. ~ The Jackson clan from Niagara Falls, Canada

Dear Dan Fogelberg, There is a quote by Oscar Wilde that I love! Thought I'd send it to you..."We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." Listening to your music has caused me to look UP into the sky and it is an AWESOME sight! Thank you for that!! I don't know you, but I promise to continue to pray for your recovery. You have shared your gifts with so many that you don't know...it's the least that I can do! May God Bless you and your family and restore you back to good health! P.S. Do you really read these e-mails? Do they make you feel any better? I sure hope so!! Love, Peace & Light ~ Carole Dowhan, Hunterdon County, NJ

Dan, My life is better for having you in it. Your beauty as a songwriter and guitarist has helped me through some difficult times. I offer to you all the positive energy and prayers I can give for you have given me so much. God blessed you with so much talent and energy - YOU CAN BEAT THIS!! I'm with you.~ Daniel, Pennsylvania

Happy New Year Dan! I continue to pray for you daily. I am anxiously waiting to hear how you are doing and when you will return to us with your beautiful songs of poetry. You are always in my heart.~ Cynthia-Tucson

Hi Dan: We both have a few things in common. Our birthdays are 1 day apart and we are the same age! I also was diagnosed with prostate cancer around the same time as you. I hope that all goes well for you and we both can get on with life, without the anxiety that something like this can bring. And you can go on with your great music. Looking at your pics you seem to be in great health and look great too. I too am like a 53 year old in a 30 year old body...very much like you. I sincerely wish you the best in your recovery. ~ Bob Anthony

Hi Dan, I don't know how you are feeling right now, but my wife and I miss you. We got engaged after your show at the Cape Cod Melody Tent in Hyannis, Mass. We met you back stage in July of 1998 and I told you how much "Leader of the Band" meant to me when my father passed away from cancer. I used the words in my speech to the congegation and they were very comforting to all. I want you to know how much your music has moved me since "Home Free" to your live concerts. Words are sometimes our living whether it's through music, print, or sports marketing. Get well soon, we need you back with your friends again..Best wishes ~ Donna & Hank Tuohy

Dear Dan. I knew you have got sick recenty. It is not easy in Japan to get your latest information. I was met by "The Innocent Age" when I was 16 years old and felt your music. Then I started to play "Souvenirs" and wanted to be a musician like you. And it continues now. I have a lot of friends through playing. My life is not an exaggeration to say that it will have been supported by music. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to you. I pray for your recovery every day. And your singing voice is believed to be able to be heard. ~ Kazuhiro Okada, KOBE, JAPAN.

For over 30 years I have been inspired by you! Your music has seen me though many phases of my life. I am always calmed by your songs. If you are anything like your songs, you will make it through this on pure love and will. Thank you for being there for me, even though you don't know me. I will pray for you... you are in my heart. ~ Cindy Martin

I was so sorry to hear of your illness. Your music has always been a beautiful inspiration to me and many that I know who have listened to you through the years. all our thoughts and prayers are with you. Without doubt, I am confident you will overcome. ~ Paul

Dearest Dan, Through the holiday season you were in my thoughts and in my prayers every day! A very special part of my celebrations with my family was in playing your beautiful cd- "The First Christmas Morning " I never tired of hearing those wonderful songs! Any day can be made brighter by just hearing ANY of your many beautiful songs! I have done this, almost daily, for the past 30 years! Every day I am hoping to hear the good news that you have recovered and will soon be back for all of your fans! My loving thoughts and prayers will always be with you... And my heartfelt thanks , for all you have given - and for all you have yet to give to your fans! With love ~ June, Ocala,Florida

Dan, I send prayers for you daily. I have faith God will answer them and bring you back to perfect health. We need your voice to keep us going in the right direction, your beautiful music and heartfelt words have comforted us for so many years. We need you Dan. May God bless you and Jean and your family, may he shower you with tremendous strength and a full recovery. ~ Sue

Dear Dan, It is very hard for me to put into words what your music has meant to me and it has taken me many weeks to write to you. I have been there from the beginning. There have been many times in my life when I've been down but when I listen to your beautiful music and brilliant writing my spirits are lifted again. I wanted to tell you that I'm thinking of you every day. Take care ~ Larry

Our thoughts and prayers are with you always Dan. Kick this cancer and get back on the road! We look forward to seeing you in 2005. ~ Laurie

Dan, I just went to your website and saw that you are battling with cancer. My thoughts are with you and your family and I will be praying for you continually and believing that you will come out the victor in this fight. It sure is God's will that you live a long life (III John 2) and He's given you so many talents to share with the world. Just remember, you have many more words to write, songs to sing, love to give, and hearts to touch! You're the BEST! ~ Lynne from Michigan

Dan, just became aware of your struggle. I pray that what ever Power that watches over us all holds you close to his or her heart and aids you in this time. Your artistry has meant so much to me in so many ways that I can't find the words to express them fully. One of the many that loves you. ~ Bruce

Dan, I am a 51 year old musician and your music has been a true influence on my musical output over the years. I was 18 or so when the Home Fre album was released and I wore out 3 copies before finally getting it on CD. My prayers and good wishes are with you and your family. As Neil Young says "Long may you run." ~ George, Grove City, PA

I wish I could write a song for you, Dan, a rejoicing song of thanks. Your music does not teach nor comfort me but it transports me deliciously into scenes where I get to star as "she", "you", & "I". Thank you for taking me so many wonderful places I could never have gone without you. Your voice & hands, heart & mind weave the magic carpet and I look forward to new travels with you in the future. Jean...you're such a lucky duck! May the good Lord bless and keep you both and carry you Dan in his loving arms through your treatment to your recovery. Love and great big smiles. ~ Shayne

Dan we are praying for your healing and I will be putting your name on a prayer list at our church and may all who are reading this believe in God's healing for Dan. I just found out today about your illness and I put my faith in God that YOU ARE going to be healed of this and thru all this what you are going thru, Dan, it will bring you closer to God and something good will all come out of this in the end. Keep the faith and don't give in to negative comments about this illness. I believe in the power of prayer and you will be healed of this cancer in Jesus Name I pray. Every day I will pray this prayer for you from this day forward in 2005. Read God's word and it will make you strong again. We your fans love you and are all here praying for you daily. Don't forget that!! Prayer changes things!!! I have seen this in my dad who has been healed of many things. He is 84 now and still going strong. Look to God to get you through this and remember we love you and keep up the good fight. Most of all keep the faith. God bless you and hold on to the positive. Your fan always ~ Donna Englebrook, Cincinnati, OH

Dan, very best wishes of recovery. Always found your poetry and music very evocative and linked to my own vision of America. Why don't you come more often to Paris ? ~ Dan

Dear Dan, I just found your web page (was looking to see when you will be performing in 2005 in Colorado) and read the news of your illness. I am praying for a full recovery for you! Cancer has shown its ugly face in my family too many times so I know how scary it can be. It sounds like you are doing well, and I am glad to hear that. I want you to know that I love your music, and I believe that in today's music culture there are so few "true artists" and you are one of them. I have been a fan of yours for many years, and have seen you perform only three times. In closing I want to say that GOD HEALS.  Dear Dan, Just a short note to say thank you, thank you for being you and having the tremendous talent that you possess. My husband and I danced our first dance at our wedding to "Longer". I hope that all these thoughts and prayers that you are receiving are getting through to the powers that be to help heal you. Positive thought is a powerful healer. For the sake of your family and your fans, please fight this thing with everything you have. The world needs you. ~ Betsi and John from Philadelphia

Your music played a part in our romance; 'Same Old Lang Syne' may well have been the catalyst for it. We send you strength, good fortune, and heart-felt thanks. ~ Marty & Vicki, SoCal

I would like for Dan to know that I have enjoyed his music for many years, and since I just turned 50, that is a lot of years. I hope that things are going well and all will be fine. Dan, I am remembering you in my prayers, and my thoughts are with you and your family. ~ Kathy in Greenville SC

Dan, I would love to start by stating the obvious - you are a very rare, diversified, Joe next door kind of guy. I have always loved your work from as early as 1971.(God that makes me feel old.) I wish you the best and an pray you make a speedy and full recovery soon!! keep rockin on and always find a way to be positive!! ~ Steve from M.D

There are no adequate words to express the sorrow I feel over Dan's illness. He has been an essential part of my musical life for more than twenty-five years. So much so, that I have seen him in concert six times, and today I went out and bought Souvenirs on CD just to have it. His music has moved me in a way that I can't explain or give proper credit to. He has awed and mesmerized me live in concert and exudes a spiritual energy that is indicitive of the divine gift and expression of the human soul few on this planet possess. (The only other that came close in my opinion was Cat Stevens). Wherever this journey takes you Dan, I know it will be to a divine place. Love & Blessings to you and your family. ~ Karen in Virginia

Dear Dan, Tonight I pulled out Souvenirs to play for my 21 month old - he likes good music. Because I have most of your music on records, it's been a while since I'd taken a good listen. In any event, I looked you up on the internet thinking I would love to see you in concert with my family. It was then that I learned of the cancer. Prayers are with you. Best wishes for a healthy and happy new year. ~ Kate

Dan - you are so awesome. We go way back, your music and I. I wish you all the best. I am holding you close to God in prayer. I am a nurse and I have seen the power of prayer and positive thinking. So, you keep up the positive thinkin and I'll keep praying and you'll be singing in Tampa in no time!! Can you give us all a new update. We love you!! ~ Kay from Tampa

Dan, I wish you and your family all the best in the coming year.Your music has been such a gift to the world.I like all your albums but my favorite is probably The Innocent Age. My favorite song of yours, there are many but I would have to say the one that stands out to me is is "Nether Lands." ~ Gene M., Egg Harbor City, N.J.

Dan -- Last night Iowa Public Television aired your Soundstage special - It was the first time I'd seen it and it was such a great way to bring in the New Year. You are such a remarkable talent and your music touches my soul. I continue to pray for your full recovery, and return to the stage. Best wishes.~ Lisa in Des Moines

A musician is a gift who brings blessings upon the heart through the innocence of music. None of us know the number of days we have upon this earth, but you have been a longtime flower in the garden of my favorites. Artists are God-inspired, and none of us know whom we touch when we answer the calling of The Muse. I am saddened to hear of your illness, but in this also, will you give it your very best effort as you have in all things. Your music is a part of my life and I thank you for the gift you have so unselfishly shared with me. Be strong and fight, for you have already won the battle. I wish you peace and healing. ~ Catherine Wallace

Dan, Have been a fan for many many years praying that you will overcome this illness. My dad died last year from CA and your music helped me through some god awful times. I'm sure that you hear things like this a lot but it must be an awsome feeling to know that you have helped so many, comforting in a way I imagine. I pray that you and your family will receive the strength needed to deal with what is to be. Keep the faith! Sincerely ~ Kathy Barriger

Dan, I have been a fan of yours for many years! I never tire of your beautiful music. I'm a late bloomer (58) with the guitar and will learn to pick out many of your songs. You are in my thoughts all of the time! All the very best, Tom Miller

I am praying for you and your family I know that God is with you. I can't wait for you to come back to Peoria, IL. and sing for us. ~ EL

You knew you were an amazing artist and had songs in your soul that needed to be heard and adored by millions even before we knew who you were. It's the same principal with your illness. You probably didn't have a great time getting those songs out there and I'm sure some struggles came your way but it was in your heart...you knew it was going to be done and would be done and you wouldn't rest until the music was out there and you felt complete. Same thing with the cancer..You are healed if you trust in God that he has healed you. If the music is still in your heart and you feel it isn't over..then it isn't over. Have the same drive to defeat this as you had to achieve your musical goals. You didn't give up on your music...And you won't give up on your healing. Know who gives you that healing and have faith in God and the fact that He's in control. Accepting this and knowing it in your heart is a lot easier than it was to get a song on the radio..I'm pretty sure of that! I'm praying and believing for you.~ Allyson - S.C.

Hi Dan...As a music journalist/reviewer and musician I would like to state how much your early albums and songwriting still hold up. I just finished listening to Souvenirs in my vehicle today. It prompted me to find out what was going on with your career. I was unaware of your illness. Only the best in your battle with the prostate cancer. Your music falls under the category of "done with integrity the first time out" ~ John Emms, THE ROCK REPORT

Dan -- Just wanted to wish you the best of fortune through your cancer treatments and in all of your life. I love all of your music and its passion, and thoroughly enjoyed your visit to Maine a few years ago. Your warmth, compassion, and humor were as enjoyable as the music. I hope you can find your own "magic every moment" in whatever life brings you. With my best wishes and hopes for you and your family. ~ Gary, Portland, Maine

Dan & Jean, wishing you the very best this NEW YEAR, and a new start. My prayers and thoughts go out to you, your family, and to your friends. And Dan, you watch, after you beat the daylights out of this cancer, I plan on seeing you in Los Angeles next time your touring!! So get this 'cancer' out of the way!! We Love you!! Adoring fans for many years. ~ Joseph and San

Dear Dan , A long time ago I faced the prospect of bone cancer. I eventually lost part of my right leg and the experienced changed me forever. One of the things I did while I was recovering was listening too many of your recordings. They touched me. The lyric and production values melded great thoughts with emotionally appropriate music. It helped me greatly. Please know as you recover there are many out here that have been helped by your music and would love to give that help back to you. You are in my thoughts and prayers. ~ Ralph Splendorio

Dear Dan, I knew you when you were recording the Nether Lands album at the record plant so many years ago. You were such a musical force to be reckoned with! I have fond memories of those months. Although I have not spoken to you, or seen you in some 15 years now, I remember you as a sweet soul. I am saddened to hear of your illness. I wish you a speedy recovery. I hope you and your lovely wife come through this with all the grace that you have given all of us over the years. Be well soon. Best regards ~ Teri Horn

Dear Dan, As a young girl your songs brought me so much comfort. As a woman they mean even more. There are times when your music is what got me through the day. I was saddened to hear of your battle with cancer. I am saying my prayers for you and your family. As a heart attack survivor I know the power of prayer and you my friend have so many people praying for you. God Bless ~ Mary

Hey Dan, Please get well soon. Thanks for the gift of your music throughout the years and the love you showed in expressing it. My love and prayers for you and yours. From a big fan of yours in Garland Texas ~ Ben E.Fira

Dear Dan, I just got finished listening to some of your CDs and as usual feel inspired. I first heard you when I was in High School and my sister in college discovered this great singer Dan Fogelberg, back in the late 70's. I have seen you along with my husband every time you have been to New Jersey and we send our prayers and good wishes that you can find all the strength possible to defeat your cancer. I have worked with cancer patients and see what hope and attitude can do. Keep up the fight and we will look forward to your future trips to New Jersey again. All our love. ~ Fran, Jackson New Jersey

Dear Dan: I don’t know where to start. I’m so sorry to learn of your illness and wish you and your family all the best. I cannot tell you what a wonderful impact your music has had on my life over the last 35 or so years. From what I can tell, you and I are only a couple of years apart in age and I’ve been listening and a fan since the 70’s. You were always there with the right song to speak to whatever mood I was in - from “Heart Hotels” to “Same Old Lang Syne” to “Run for the Roses”, “Leader of the Band” and “Make Love Stay.” I wish I had, in my lifetime, the ability to positively affect as many lives as you have. Please do everything in your power to work through this terrible illness and don’t give up. You’ll be in my prayers daily! God bless you, Dan.~ Jerry Hooper, Kansas City, MO

Dear Dan, Even if I'm so far away from USA (I write from Italy), I want you to know that I'm next to you in these sad moments, and I want you to know that I've got all your records you did in all these years. I say a prayer for you so  that I'll be able to listen again to the wonderful records you'll do in the future....and if you come in Italy to play, know that I'll be there singing loud your songs, sure! God bless you ~ Maurizio

Dear Mr. Fogelberg, I hope you don't mind me calling you Dan because I feel like you are one of my best friends. You were there with your beautiful heartfelt music when I went through some of the worst times in my life and I felt like I had a kindred spirit that shared my sorrow and pain in the beauty and hurt called love once good that always seems to go bad. Your lyrics and Heavenly melodies have touched so many souls like mine that I believe you can't even imagine. I have over 2,000 cd's and have every one of yours exalted in the highest row.I have attended every Humphrey's By The Bay Concert you have performed at and sat with tears in my eyes as I experienced the magnificence of your guitar work and the beauty of your voice. Each and every one of your songs are a masterpiece and I believe you have never been givin the credit you deserve for the gift you have givin to the music world. All this said, I want you to know that I hope my words make you feel as good as yours have me when I needed them. Get better, and I am waiting to purchase my next ticket to see my hero at Humphreys soon!!!!! One of your biggest fans ~ Randy

Dear Dan and Jean, I feel such a connection with your other fans by being able to share and read their thoughts and prayers for you. We are like a brotherhood and sisterhood of people from all walks of life, who have been so touched by the soulfulness of your gift. Words and music can have such a positive affect on a person, and you have done that to so many of us. I am thankful for your gift of writing, I am thankful for your gift of tenderness and honesty, I am thankful for you being steadfast and continuing to make music. We're all growing up together and fighting your illness together....praying and hoping together. Thank God for you, thank God for the gift of prayer.....be well soon... Peace and Love ~ Pam

Dear Dan, I'm sitting here @ my PC looking up your 2005 tour dates @ 1:30 am and BLAM...I am so very sorry to hear about your fight w/prostate cancer. I have been a fan of yours since Home Free. Throughout their infancy, I have rocked my babies to sleep (every night) listening to your music and I have grieved over the loss of loved ones by listening to your altruistic and compassionate lyrics. Your ARE "the leader of YOUR own band" and with faith and science , you WILL overcome this battle. I have seen you in Tahoe, Ventura, Thousand Oaks, CA & Colorado, AZ, & on & on...so many different places and venues, I can't even remember! hope you take this time to do the things that are important to you and your family -- make memories, for what are we but memories, a mere book, a legacy, and THAT you are. My children and I, along with my husband Dave wish all the best for you. Please continue to enjoy the beauty of our Mother Earth's sunrises and sunsets, the patter of the rain falling on the roof and the snowflakes floating from the skys blanketing San Juans, you have brought me closer to nature, through your music, and we are all a part of mother nature. Rest and get well, and DO what your doctor says so that you will be healed and continue to live the life which you have chosen. Our thoughts and prayers are with you; we hope to see you down the road, healed and rested and ready to start the next chapter in your life. KEEP THE FAITH. Very lovingly & sincerely ~ Dana & David Cable and our, now grown, children...

Dan, You have given so much to this world by sharing your words and music. What can be done in return? I will tell you a story. Once upon a time there was a young girl, barely sixteen. She had her share of ups and downs and felt in many ways alone and misunderstood. It just so happened that this young girl spent some time with a similar soul who shared her new favorite album with this young girl. The first song on this album, "To The Morning" became this girl's anthem for a time. The words touched her heart and gave her strength. Through this song and many to follow, this young girl met kindred souls and she was no longer alone. The album, soon purchased by the young girl, is still part of her cherished collection of the work of Dan Fogelberg. The young girl grew into a young woman whose hopes and dreams were forever inspired by music and are still, to this day. A friend in later years wrote a song and I'll share this phrase..."I'm leaving a light in my window for you and I hope when it finds you, it finds you well. I'm leaving a light in my window for you, because sometimes you never can tell..." Peace ~ Marie

Dear Dan, I just got your new CD "Full Circle" and it proves to me again what I've always known about your heavenly music: It will always move me to the depths of my soul. I have so many good memories of listening to your music over the course of my 34 years (rocking my sister's daughter to sleep to "Hard to Say" in Denver when nothing else would stop her from crying, the first time I played "Phoenix" as I drove my 18 wheeler across I-80 in Nevada, playing "Souvenirs" on a sunny August day at the beach in Washington State). I just can never get enough of your music, and a new release from you is always one of those rare, beautiful things we all need from time to time. I pray that you come through this temporary health setback and have no lasting effects. I know you will be a survivor, and I look forward to new releases from you during the next century! Best wishes for you Dan, the friend I've never met. Sincerely ~ Ken in Tucson, Arizona.

Dear Dan, My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family in this difficult time. I have grown up enjoying your music and it has gotten me through some very difficult times in my life. May you find the strength to make it through this. ~ Elizabeth, Florida

Dan - Wishing you a speedy Get - Well- Soon! I'm from the mid-west, Indianapolis. I saw you the first time at Starlight Theater on the Butler U. campus while in High School. Souvenirs was released at that time. Although, I have my original copy of Home Free on LP, doesn't play anymore because I wore it out. Last time I saw you was at Deer Creek. A couple of friends and I had one of the best evenings in our lives. I was a bit unhappy, as the speakers on stage blocked a large portion of my view, but the music made up for that. I now live in Ft Myers and was looking forward to your Naples Phil show. I will be first in line for tickets when you're healthy again. Your health, that's more important. Take care and be well. ~ TSB

Dan - I too am a cancer survivor and want you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I love your poetry and your music and have for a very long time. Your words touch my soul and now my soul can reach out to you with love and good wishes. ~ Marsha

Dan, Your beautiful music has touched so many aching souls with a healing touch. May God touch your soul, bless you and heal your mortal body....Amen.....Love ~ George

Dan, I cannot speak for anyone other than myself. I am a drummer for forty years, still play professionally once in a while.I just want to thank you for being such an inspiration. Your vocals and your guitar riffs and more than anything, the heart and soul that you bear with every song you play is mezmerizing. I am fifty-eight years young, and have had a number of serious illness experiences in the last three years, but you know what........ I consider myself the luckiest person in the world. To have the talent and ability to move people with one's God-given talents is more than I could have asked for in my life. I am at total peace within myself for the gift I and you have been given. I will never forget your music, and the influence you have had on me for many years. Thank you for your time to read my post. It comes from the bottom of my heart. ~ Dennis Gaugh/Orlando FL

Dear Dan : I wish you and your family all the best as you go through treatment for Prostate Cancer. I myself, was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in Nov 2002 and chose to have the radical surgery. It's been two years and I am back on the road to recovery. I took my wife to see you perform last year at the Fox Theatre in Redwood City, Ca. and she was thrilled. I have been following you since you started making albums and have enjoyed all of your music. Whenever I hear "Leader of the Band", a tear comes to my eye. I, too, lost my father, a musician also. Best wishes for a fast recovery ~ Art Paley, Former Bass player for The Kingsmen in 1961

Tomorrow is my birthday and my wish would be for YOU to have a good day. I hope it comes true. All the best to you and yours. Music is a gift . Thank you for sharing yours all these years. ~ Diana M. LaGrange, GA

Dear Dan - From a fellow recently diagnosed with prostate/lymph node cancer aged 68 from England on hormone treatment, just remain confident that your treatment is working and will work. ~ Colin Seale, UK

Your music has been a comfort and inspiration to me since the early 70s. I often felt like you were speaking directly to me, especially in "The Last Nail". You've touched my heart and soul through your music. I've seen you in concert many times and was disappointed when your Fall tour was cancelled. I've been praying for you and hoping that you regain your good health. Looking forward to seeing you on tour next Fall. You have a special gift for being sensitive to nature, emotion, and expressing it in your music. You are a very special person and I only hope that someday I could be lucky enough to meet you personally. ~ Diane-PA

I have followed you since I first heard Souvenirs. From there, I went back to Nether Lands and have purchased every album since. I was thrilled to see you in concert at Starlight in Kansas City, and look forward to seeing you and hearing you again. As I write this, Full Circle plays in the background. My prayers are with you for your highest good. Be well. The Light of God surrounds us, the Love of God enfolds us, the Power of God protects us, the Presence of God watches over us. Wherever we are, God is and all is well. ~ Herb H. White

Dearest Dan: Your songs have been the current theme music to my life for many, many years. From love and lost loves (particularly "The Last Nail") to Tom Brown, Jr. and our environmental issues, From blue grass to Native American philosophies. For the hard work you put into writing songs and making them sound as perfect as they do to the discipline you have in practicing and perfecting your art, I thank you! And, I wish you a fast and complete recovery.I'll pray for your good health. Love ~ Matthew

Your music has been an inspiration to me for many years. You will be in my prayers. May God bless you and watch over you. ~ Darlene Carroll

Dear Dan and family,All the best, forever and always. Your music, especially everything on Nether Lands, has gotten me through a lot of rough times, and now those that love you, and their prayers and support, both near and far, will get you through this, too. Sincerely ~ Liz Chappie Zoller, Wyoming by way of Ohio

Dan, You're always in my prayers! Your music was a big part of our wedding, as I'm sure is true with so many others. I have seen your concerts every chance I get. One of my favorites was at Red Rocks. It rained all day, but it didn't matter. I found your music when I was in college some 20+ years ago now, but still listen to it all the time. It never grows old. Your albums were the first thing I loaded on my i-Pod and I kept it with me so I can listen to it anytime I'm in the mood. I grew up in Colorado down in the part of the state you call home. You had a concert on the 4th of July a couple years ago in my home town, Mancos. I didn't get to make it, as I live in Kansas now, but my family went "just for me". I hope your doing well and I sure hope to heard some good news soon! ~ D

I have sung your songs. I have been moved to bliss and tears. I have eagerly awaited new recordings. Now I wish you deep peace and the light of all existence as you face this great challenge. Blessings and love we send to you as the warmth of the sun bathes us all-to you our unmet brother. ~ Joe Corley and Denise Doering, Ukiah, California

Dear Dan, I am a minister and I give you these scriptures to read. Proverbs 4:20-23. Read it carefully. It was a word the Lord gave me as I was battling a long illness. I have since recovered. And I give you this word from the Lord as well. These words will need to get down deep into your spirit. Then find all the scriptures you can on healing...put them in front of you daily and speak them forth from your mouth. Blessings to you and your wife.

Dear Dan, You are in my thoughts and prayers as I write this letter. Thanks for the songs that have often touched my heart and brought tears to my eyes. I saw you at Derby Eve Jam in Louisville, Kentucky many years ago. You had just written "Run For The Roses" and My God, what a reaction there was to that song when you performed it. You still have many people here in Kentucky that love you and your music. I, for one look forward to more from you in the future. Just remember...This too shall pass. I pray for the health and renewal of your body and your spirit. God Bless You. ~ Dan R. Mt. Washington, Ky.

Thanks for the wonderful music through the years. Maybe when you are well, you can play up in Maine? Our prayers are with you ~ Helen

Dan......Kick this cancer straight in the ass! You can do it bud! ~ Tom in Upstate NY

Dan, Still praying for you and always will. I hope no news of your progress is good news. Your music just fills my soul. Can't wait to see you in St. Louis again. God Bless! ~ Diana

Dan, Your music has been an inspiration to me in so many areas of my life and I owe you a great debt that I hope has been paid by the vast sums of money I've spent on your cd's for myself and many friends. One of my most cherished moments was taking my daughter to one of your Red Rocks concerts. After you finished singing "Morning Sky" she turned to me and said "Dad, you play that better than he does!". My truck has been referred to as the "FogelbergMobile" because it is often filled with your music alone. And finally, I have summitted numerous peaks with the song "To the Morning" running peacefully through my mind. I am so grateful to you and pray for your recovery. I'm hoping for many more years of the songs still forming in your heart. ~ Dave

Reading all the good wishes from your fans must be inspiring. Something I noticed was how many mentioned their kids listen to your music. Knowing your fans take their kids to your concerts has to be the ultimate compliment. I look forward to updates about your recovery. I have this feeling you will be back this summer and stronger from the experience.

Your music flows in my blood.

Dear Dan, I pray for you every day. I hope you realize how important you are in so many lives. I've been in the front row in Oregon concerts 5 times now, and look forward to the next. I own your collection and listen often. You inspire and touch my soul. PLEASE let all of us who love you know how you are doing. I check your website daily, and look for the day you let us know that you are healing. Love to your family ~ Karen Ward, Dorena Lake, Oregon

Hope you're well. Your music has mirrored much of my life, and has been a part of my life as far back as the early 70's. It has meant so much to me and still does. All my family's hopes and prayers, to you and your

family. ~ Bob McCarthy

Dan: So many years, so much in common. The postings from those your gift of music and verse has touched speaks volumes to the true testimony of your own living legacy. I've seen your shows, both full and acoustic, at practically every opportunity since the mid-70's and am always amazed by your talents. Thank you for articulating in such thoughtful fashion what we've all felt at one time or another and for inspiring me at a young age to play guitar/piano/bass and express myself as a singer/songwriter (though never as eloquently). From "Home Free" to "Full Circle," you have openly shared the path you've chosen and I realize readily that I am richer for the ride. During this difficult time, may God be with Jean and your family and grant you peace, comfort, healing and recovery. We all look forward to seeing you again soon -- somewhere along the road. "Blessed (indeed) is the traveler who journeys the length of the light." ~ Seth Kerr

We love you Dan...Forever Fans ~ George and Marguerite, New York

Dan, I would like to thank you for the music that has inspired me during my life. Your words are magic to me and you are a true poet. I wish you nothing but the best in your fight. I am passing on your music to my boys ages 11 and 12, so that they too may have a great appreciation for the beautiful music you have produced over the last three decades. God Speed!!! ~ Janis, Ryan, and Nick

All of Dan's love songs touch on every feeling and experience I have had in all my past relationships and current love. I knew that the current man in my life was the guy for me when we discovered our shared love for Dan's music. We have been to many of his concerts; our most favorite was at the Mountain Vineyard venue in northern California. Sitting outside in an intimate setting listen to Dan perform his music live was magical. I hope this message finds Dan in good health and spirits. His music has touched my life in a wonderful way!! ~ Robin Broudy, Los Angeles, California

To Dan and family, Both of my parents were cancer survivors so I know from personal experience that there is always hope. I have also worked in the cancer field for many years. I am assuming that you know about the latest research in cancer vaccines and T-cell immunotherapy (T-cell booster). But just in case, you can find out about the latest trials by typing "cancer vaccine" into your browser search engine. I also work for a company that is now in its final trial for a T-cell immunotherapy. In the meantime, I will look forward to catching you on your next tour--hopefully to the Pacific Northwest Seattle area! I went to U of I and was just a year or two behind you....so your music has been a part of my life for a long long time. Sincerely ~ Cynthia Cousens-Jacobs

Hang in there, Dan. I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in September of 2003, at the tender age of 43, and have since had an operation to correct the problem. So far, after over a year, I'm clean, so I'm hoping for the same result for you. I've been a big fan for many years and even share a strong resemblance to you, which has been pointed out to me many times through the years. (except I have kept the beard -- now graying!) Best wishes ~ bruce

To Dan, Family and Friends - Only today did I learn of your battle. I've been a fan of yours for as long as I can remember. Thank you for putting into music the thoughts and dreams that most of us are unable to vocalize. This past Christmas season our local station played your "Same Old Lang Syne" every day. It brought back fond memories of my youth. I wish you peace and a speedy recovery. For your family and friends I wish them strength. For the last year my husband has been fighting Renal Cell Cancer, so I know the inner struggles of those who love you. You, your family and friends will be in my prayers. Peace and love to all of you. ~ Candy, Galesburg IL.

Dear Dan, Your music and spirit has touched me deeply during my life. You have been my favorite musical artist since I first heard you in 1975. I have all your albums, your sheet music, and have seen you at least a dozen times. I believe that you will recover from this illness. If you could somehow harness the wonderful spirit that inspired you to write all of those terriffic songs , I know that you'll pull through. WE ARE ALL PRAYING FOR YOU! I wish there were something I could do. I have a beautiful 4 year old daughter, Her name is Chianne. I will pass your music on to her. I wish you a speedy recovery and I look forward to seeing you at Caesar's Tahoe soon. You're the greatest! ~ Steve-Tahoe City, CA

Dan, Hope you are doing better. Our prayers are with you. ~ Rosemary

You've brought me spirit so much joy over the years. Please know that my prayers and my warmest thoughts are with you and your family. ~ Jojy Smith, Antioch, CA

Dear Dan, First and foremost I want to say that your in my thoughts and prayers. So in light of your battle with Prostate cancer, I want you to know how you have profoundly affected and ultimately saved my life.

It was during the days of my "innocent age" that I first felt a sense of your melodic mind and heartfelt harmony. Although I don't believe this song had yet been written, I sit here tonight hearing the words "trust someone's way of leading us here". So in addition to following my heart, I also feel that someone or something has lead my hands to type this. And as I write, I hope and pray that somehow this letter will meet your eyes. I am fascinated by your innate ability to harvest all of the right words, incorporate instrumentals, and then ice the cake with the tender intonations of your voice, all enabling you to give birth to a song over and over again. For so many years your music was just something I loved and couldn't get enough of, but over time became a staple in my daily regime.

As the years rolled on and my life seemed to be filled with insurmountable hurdles, my drinking got the best of me. As my drinking progressed I arrived at a seemingly hopeless state of being. Hitting rock bottom consequently brought me to my knees, and by the "Grace of God", I landed in the rooms of AA and slowly but surely discovered a new way of life. Prior to this new found freedom, I struggled through many a day and night with never ending fears that absolutely consumed me. It was your music that helped me through countless terrifying detoxes, and moreover the frightening reality of living sober. You gave me the release I so desperately needed; to laugh, to cry, to feel alive and no longer just living in a numb state of existence. Your lyrics infused my mind with safe and gentle thoughts, which diffused and replaced the old and scary thoughts that raced endlessly. I am now infiltrated with a comfort I have never known, and that feeling has emerged since replacing the toxic elixer that once flowed through my veins with the soothing songs of your soul. Thank you Dan, sweet music man, from the bottom, the top, and the core of my heart. With the utmost sincerity ~ Christine Wadeyka

Dear Dan, we watched a re-broadcast of your Soundstage special on PBS last night. we were reminded of your great gift.....we were so moved, even more than before by your wonderful music and lyrics and how the wisdom of age has only enhanced your talents. Keep the positive spirit alive as we will along with you. Here's to a complete recovery. We need your presence here more than ever! ~ Susan and Jeff  Richards, Las Vegas, NV

My very best wishes for your success in keeping this illness in check for many, many decades to come. From one whose life has been enriched immeasurably by your words and music for over 20 years. Sincerely ~ Barry Alberts, Chicago, Illinois

To a great songwriter and artist, our hopes are with you for a speedy recovery.

Good luck Dan! I know that the mighty creator is right by your side through this. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Your faithful fan ~ Tara Clark, Andover, MA

Hey Dan, I'm 31 but have always loved your music. I still listen to your music everyday. My friends make fun of me because of my age and the music I listen to but hey, I know good music when I hear it! :) I hope that you get better and have a fast recovery! By the way, I didn't realize you were from Peoria. I live in Galesburg which is about 40 mins from Peoria. They had a nice article in our newspaper about you. Take care and I'll be praying for you! ~ Jennie

Dan... Happy New Year to you and your family! Carpe Diem...no matter how bad the day, your music and words have given me the inspiration to do that every day...live life, enjoy life, and from my gut, I know that you are going to be fine! Thanks Dan...aloha ~ merrilee

I wish you all the best in these difficult times. You have brought me much pleasure and insight with your words and music all these years and I want you to know how much you are appreciated. Get well soon and come play in Memphis. ~ Jeff Barnett

Dear Dan, Many of us never realize the lives we've touched. There are two artists who've touched my life often through their work - you and a talented, insightful writer from the Galesburg Register-Mail named John Pulliam. You may not know it or remember it, but you've also touched John's life in a much more personal way - as a former classmate. I'm sure you'd be deeply moved by his tribute to you today (http://www.register-mail.com/news/local/b580ucu3gid.html ) I know I was. Thanks for the music. As I heard "Same Old Lang Syne" several times through the holiday season, I sent up some extra prayers for you. God Bless ~ Ann Mueller, Central Illinois

I know I'm yet another fan wishing you well after listening to you for nearly 30 years, but I really need you to make it thru this... you would not believe how important it is to me personally. I know this sounds selfish, but I don't mean it that way - just get better soon! We really miss you out here in the hill country. All our prayers ~ Greg Wright & family, San Antonio, Texas

Dear Dan, My son and I really love your music and look forward to seeing you in concert again! Our prayers and thoughts are with you and your family! Get plenty of rest and relax and try not to worry for God will truly pull you through this! God Bless you Dan Fogelberg ~ Bill and Brendan Barth, New Paris, Ohio

Dear Dan, I first heard your music in Galesburg Illinois back in the 70s. I was hooked from the start. I found your music was a pleasant come down from the heavier rock and roll of the era. There are times when we all need mellow music. I was saddened to hear about your illness. I'm going to enter your name in 2 praying circles at churches down here in Florida. You mean alot to people. You have touched more peoples lives then you realize. Your music means alot to people also. I will pray for you daily, and will continue to even after you beat this terrible disease. Take it one day at a time. Thanks again for the music, and words put in such wonderful order. I would love to meet and shake your hand one day. May God touch you. ~ Steve Van Nest

Dearest Dan, I am amazed to read all the hundreds of messages to you that echo the words I have tried so hard to say! We, your fans, all seem to be searching for the magic combination of words - and I imagine we all feel we fall just a little short of what we mean to say. I know I do! No few sentences are adequate to express what your music has been to me over the years! Perhaps, if I could borrow and combine ALL the words that have been sent from ALL your fans, I might come close to having enough words to express how much a part of MY life your poetry and your music has been. Feel the love, Dear Dan, from all your fans ! May our combined good wishes and prayers help you. I KNOW they will! My prayer, every day, is that you soon return to us; your faithful and adoring fans. ~ June K.- Ocala, Fl

Dan, I hope every thing is going well with your treatment. I love your music and I have been a fan for a long time. I just wanted to wish you well. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Fondly ~ Steve Hammer, Overland Park, KS

Hi Dan, The expression that 'life is what happens to you while you are making other plans' is a bit irritating, but for myself it has proven itself true. Fifteen years ago I gave my entire life over to the Lord and within 12 months, my wife left me, I was laid off, I had to sell my home, and my dog died. Naturally, I figured that God was good at macro administration but not too good on micromanaging me. My Catholic friends told me to offer up all the suffering and to ask for a rebuild, which I did. Now I have a nicer wife, a better job, a more comfortable home, and two pets. I doubt we are supposed to figure out exactly our lives purpose, or its paths just yet. For you, more than likely, you are using your time of recovery to learn about things you've been curious about, having more quality time with your family than ever before, deepening your faith, and learning more medical jargon than you'd like. With all the prayers you are receiving, mine included, we are expecting you to fulfill some of your personal goals. After your recovery, I am hoping you will have developed fresh ways to enlighten us, and to again be a major reflection of God's love for the world. Peace to you and your family Dan. A fellow Coloradoan ~ Mark Fowler

My husband and I began listening to your music in the early '70's...about the time we were first falling in love. When we listen to your music today, we are transported back in time to those magical days. So many of your songs are "our song" and others have become our sons' songs...as they grow and experience more of life. You have been given very special gifts of poetry and music and have been unselfish in sharing with all of us these many years. We know this has not come without much personal sacrifice and want you to know how grateful we are. Now is your time to sit back and let your fans, friends and family give something back to you. We are all praying for your recovery. Please know that God and Jesus are both alive and well and with you. Be well ~ Susan Duddy

Dan, I echo my wife's sentiments. You're still our favorite musician. Listen to your CDs all the time. As we live in NH and lobster during the summer with my sons, I have especially liked your songs dedicated to the sea and seamen. Best wishes-I have a lot of faith in God that you will be making much more music and making the world a much better place for a long time to come. ~ Ron Duddy

Hi Dan from Mexico. My best wishes to fight against your illness. God will be with you and you are in our prayers. Get better soon. Happy new year!!!!

Dan.. I just want to say that your gift of wonderful music has been a huge part of my life. From the very first time I saw your show in person back in 1979 at Elliot Hall of Music (Purdue University) to the Murat Theatre in Indy in 2003, and countless shows in between, I have been a faithful follower and true fan. At my first concert, when you hit the keys to that piano and launched into "Nether Lands", it was the most incredible and moving experience. Your God given talents to reach people's hearts and souls are unmatched. My prayers are with you as you go through this battle. I know you are a strong soul and have wonderful family and friends. Lots of us out here are there with you in thought as well. I look forward to seeing you again sometime soon after your recovery!.. Take Care, From Indianapolis ...Brian Baugh

Your words and music have brought so many memorables moments to my life... I cannot begin to tell you how your magic has touched me. You are in my prayers - sending much positive energy and strong thoughts for your full recovery. God be with you and your family through this most difficult of times. We all want your music to continue. ~ Maria

Dear Mr. Fogelberg, I feel strange using such a formal salutation as I feel I know you, being that I have been a fan of your music since my college days at CSU in Fort Collins. As a native Coloradoan, your music was the essence of my collegiate soundtrack, and its heart and soul stick with me all these many years later. . . I was so very sorry to hear of your illness and send many, many prayers and positive thoughts your way. My best wishes for improving health. Thank you so much for your amazing musical contribution to the world. Always a fan ~ Kim Smith, Coppell, Texas

I am a long time fan of Dan Fogelberg and when I logged on to the website I was shocked to read that Dan has prostate cancer. I wish him well for a speedy recovery and return to full health and he will be in my prayers. ~ Jerry Crowley, Dublin Ireland.

Dear Dan and Family ~ Today is a snowy day in Chicago, so my husband and I gathered up our collection of your tapes and cds, loaded them on the stereo and cuddled up together on the sofa to read a good book and enjoy the snowfall. While enjoying the day, I thought about what you might be doing right now and I wished that you were having a similar relaxing day with your loved ones. Dan, I prayed for you very hard today asking God to give you the strength to fight the good fight and to grant you a full recovery from your illness because we need you back real soon. I couldn't imagine our lives without you. Thank you so much for adding such quality to our lives, for you've helped us through many a hard time. With love ~ Gary and Nancy Hackley

Dan, please accept my best wishes for a speedy recovery.I hope that you can, if possible, be a spokesman for encouraging more public and private spending on fighting prostate cancer. Prostate cancer kills almost as many men each year as breast cancer kills women, yet breast cancer research is funded about 20 times greater than prostate cancer research is. Please consider the contribution that you can make towards addressing this inequity. Thank you, and again, my best wishes for a speedy recovery. ~ Earl in Denver, Colorado

Dan: While listening to the "Souvenirs" album (yes, I still have my albums!!!) earlier this week, I was compelled to surf the web to see if you might be coming to St. Louis in the near future. My wife and I have seen you in concert twice previously here. Once solo in the fall of 1982 at the Keil Auditorium and once with your band in 1984 at the old Arena. Of the two times we saw you, the solo appearance at Kiel was by far our favorite. We enjoyed both shows, but, having second row center seats definitely made that evening a little more special. The fact that your final song was "There's a Place in the World for a Gambler" didn't hurt either. It's by far my wife's (Sue) favorite song of yours and when everyone in the audience joined you on the refrains and held their lighters high it was truly a concert memory that neither of us will ever forget. You can tell when an artist is truly touched my the audience's response to their music and it certainly appeared as though you shared a moment with St. Louis that night. I would like to thank you for creating music that has heightened many of my outdoor moments and eased my mind in difficult times. I pray that the power of faith and prayer from your many fans will help you find peace during this difficult time. My wife and I both feel closest to God when admiring the miracles in nature. Having read about your continued love for the outdoors, we're also hopeful that the spirit of nature is helping to comfort and heal you in your time of need.

I recently read a quote from Gandhi that simply stated "You must be the change you wish to see in the world". Please know that your music has helped bring about a change in our society and has truly touched many lives. You have improved the world we live in by sharing with us your lyrics, piano, vocals and guitar. As another wise man once wrote while in California in 1971..."There's a light in the depths of your darkness, There's a calm at the eye of every storm, There's a light in the depths of your darkness..........Let it shine; Oh let it shine!!!!" Sue and I pray that you will find that light, we pray that you will find that calm and we plan to see you (front row this time!!) when you pass through St. Louis again.Keep fighting and keep the faith!!! ~ Dan McLaughlin

Dear Dan..You truly are a living legacy. I have listen to you since I was about 5 years old. My brothers were always playing your 8 track tapes and I fell in love with your music at an early age. My heat sank when I heard the news of your cancer. I am so deeply sorry that this had to happen to you. God will lift you up, I pray. We are lifting you up in all our prayers as well. God speed be to you and your family! ~ Teresa

Dear Wonderful Dan, you are in my thoughts and prayers. I know I could never give back to you all that you have given to me by sharing your gift of music. But you should know that you are loved by people like me to whom you seem like a family member because you've shared your life with us through your songs. So kick that cancer's ass and get back to work! I can't wait to see you again next time you come to ohio! Love ~ Tom

I wish you, Jean, and other family members all the best in the process of this battle. I firmly believe that your resiliency will overcome this obstacle in your life in order for you to move forward and enrich others' lives in the way that you have mine and my family. ~ Cindy Fabian

Dan, it's amazing to read of the whole group of followers that have loved your music over the years. My story is so much like the others...I began listening to your music when I was 14, freshman year of high school in St. Louis, 1976. I have always been an emotional person, and suddenly listening to your lyrics I realized I was not alone! I believed you could feel what I felt. Your music was like this incredible sharing of emotions and beliefs and wishes and hopes. My boyfriend and I used to spend entire weekends just digesting what you communicated through your songs, and each time we listened, we heard and felt something new, something deeper than before. I suppose we grew up to your music. I think what I remember most is that you sang about joy and wonder, loss and pain, but there was really not much anger. So much of what you hear today is angry and resentful, so it is like a breath of fresh air to hear someone's philosophy of life being communicated by song. It's hard to believe that you have hit 50, and I am 43. And I am grateful that all these years, I have the gift of your songs to reflect with me on what is important in this life. You have helped me appreciate beauty and nature, love and even loss. Thank you so much, Dan, for your songs, your reflections, your music. It has been so wonderful to get to partake in your views of the world. I am wishing for you a great and speedy recovery from your illness and may you be surrounded always by the beauty you have shared with us! ~ Julie King in RI

Dear Dan - We are taught at a young age to send a written acknowledgement when we receive a gift.

Thus...many, many years late, is mine to you:

Thank You, Dan, for your precious gift...not only of music, but of words that have touched my heart.

Thank You for giving so many wonderful, energetic performances.

Thank You for the clarity of your voice on The Innocent Age.

Thank You for sharing a part of your Illinois soul, whether from song or visual art.

Talent is God-given, but you have had the courage to be true to it - Thank You.

Please continue to be courageous. Your music touches my spirit - You make me smile. Get well, my friend. ~ Mary, Champaign, Illinois

Dan, We cannot imagine a world without you or your music. You are in our prayers daily. Be Blessed! Love ~ Ben & Mary

Dan & Family, You are in our prayers. We what it is like to battle an illness. Our 10 year old son has fighting CGD (a serious genetic disorder) since 2002. It's been an extremely difficult 2 1/2 years but we're still here, our son is better, and our faith is much stronger. Please keep praying! (Every singleday!!) Persevere and read the word. Remember that God's time is not always our time. Prayer is powerful!! There are MIRACLES every day!

Dan, I began playing guitar in the 70's, and it became my love after discovering your music. While I never did learn to sing as sweetly as you (and, really, how many can?) my love of music led me to 20 years as an owner of a music store. More importantly, my sons now also play guitar. You see, what you've given your listeners is truly a gift that keeps on giving. God bless, and I hope this letter finds you in recovering health. ~ Jay Santos -Rhode Island

Dan, I've been a long time fan since the good ole 70's.keep your chin up and Godspeed! My thoughts, my prayers and energies are with you and your family during this very trying time. ~ Melissa in New Orleans

I have been lucky enough to see you in concert several times. Through many years, many changes, and many different stages in my life, I have always found comfort and peace in your beautiful melodies and poignant lyrics. My best wishes and heartfelt prayers for your healing, strength, and peace. ~ Kathleen A. Miller

I was contemplating my message when my active 16-month old, pulled "Nether Lands" and "Phoenix" out of the CD tower! I'm sticking them in the player and I know there will be a song on there that speaks new words to me for what you are now going through. Stay strong, we need you and your music. God Bless you and your family. ~ Joanie Ruppel, Keller, TX

"There are many things in life that will capture your eye, but very few that will capture your heart. These are the things worth keeping." -- The gifts you have shared with the world are definitely worth keeping. Thank you...

Dan, I was so sorry to hear of your recent circumstance. I wish I could say that I have been following you all these years of your career, but, the truth is, I was a little girl when first introduced to your music and I have only recently found you again as an adult. Hearing you again is like going home or seeing an old friend after years of being away. You are truly an artist to be able to touch people in that way. Thank you for all the memories your music has made for me and best wishes to you now and in the future. Take care of yourself and Godspeed. ~ Anne Orozco, Chicago, IL

Dear Dan, Wishing you a full recovery...your words and music are an inspiration to me and my wife. "Captured Angel" and "Souvenirs" are my personal favorites. Just wanted you to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. ~ Paul and Karen Fay, Murrieta, CA

Hello Dan, I'm a long time admirer and owner of all your works. I want to thank you so much for making the 70's, 80's and 90's so tolerable especially through out those disco years! Thank goodness for the songwriting gift you have that you've blessed each of us with. My best wishes to you for a full recovery and continuation of your art and talents! ~ Chuck Coleman, Columbus, Montana

Dear Dan- Hope your treatment is going well. My thoughts and prayers are with you and you family and this time. Maybe my one small prayer would be this note is as uplifting to you as your music has been to me for many years. To your health, happiness and peace.

Your music has always touched my heart. You are in my prayers. ~ Deborah Schulz

God Bless You, Dan. Keep Strong.

To your whole family, My husband was diagnosed with Stage 4 Prostate cancer nearly a year ago and we know what you are going through. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you, since it affects your entire family. Your music is part of what gives people like us inspiration to always think positive and enjoy every day that we have been allowed to have together. "Longer" has become a song with much more meaning than ever before. Hang in there. ~ Carol in Kansas

It started with Home Free, and has continued to this day. Your music has always seemed to speak to what I was going through at the time. Your albums were the first I replaced with cd's to insure I would always have the music with me. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. You will come through this and your music will continue to speak to all who hear it. ~ Sue, Flower Mound TX

Dan, I will forever be indebted to my best friend in high school who introduced me to your music. We used to sit at her house on Friday nights and listen to Home Free over and over. To this day, if I had to choose my favorite album of all time, I think that would be it. What memories and what beautiful music. Thank you for following your own road and staying true to the music God called you to make. You have touched millions of lives and hearts who are now wishing you nothing but good things and restored health. I pray your life is filled with the peace that passes all understanding and the love of family and friends. God bless you and thank you for all you've given to us over the years. ~ Betsy, Indiana

Dear Dan and family, Another challenge and milestone to pass on this trip we call our life. Almost three years ago, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer and given less than 50/50 odds...well life is still as sweet and I suppose it just wasn't time to leave yet. In the loneliness of your thoughts, when you really ponder if this is the end, listen to the wind, feel the sun's embrace and know that whatever the outcome it has been a good life and a good fight. You are an evolved spirit blessed with the gifts of word and music...share that magic with yourself as your body heals. My heartfelt thanks for the imagery your music has provided and I wish you and your family strength, peace and happiness.Fondly ~ Frank from Florida

Dan,Your music has touced my wife and I since we were married in ''79. The memories of places we've been and traveled to is always tied to a song of yours and etched on our hearts for as long as we walk this earth, and hopefully beyond. The beauty of your lyrics, voice and guitar work (I play guitar, so I'm always intrigued by your licks) is a testiment to the gift given you in this life. Thank you for your faithfullness in following that gift and bringing joy to those listening. May your recovery be speedy and stengthening. God bless ~ Mike and Teresa Hanson from Ottawa, Il.

I had never heard of Dan Fogelberg in 1974 when I walked into a record store and saw the album "Souvenirs" and I just knew that anyone who looked that good had to sound okay (I was 18 at the time). What a wonderful surprise to find such beautiful music inside. I have bought every album since then and Dan has helped me through the good times and the bad times. I hope the thoughts and prayers of myself and his myriad of fans will help him through this rough time. Take care ~ Ricki Jane.

Your music has been a part of my life for a long time. Sending strength through the wires and holding you in my heart. ~ Leslie, Tampa, FL

Dan: I was saddened to see today of your illness. May you continue to give us your beautiful music!!! Best Wishes

Hey Dan, You have been my favorite artist for many, many years. I'm 45 and the first time I saw you live was in the Summit in Houston back in the early 80's. I'm saddened to hear of your prostate cancer. My prayers are with you. Godspeed to you and your family during this time of healing and recovery. ~ Craig Thompson

Dear Dan, Upon visiting your website yesterday, I found out about your latest challenge. Like so many have said, your music has been the soundtrack of my life. Being about the same age as you, it seemed that each album sang about my next developmental step that I had no way of verbalizing. I cannot put into words how much your music has helped me spiritually and how it continues to nurture me. Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I trust that you will meet this ordeal just as you have met others. You have many of us with you in spirit. Thank you for being a voice for Peace. ~ Michael, Anchorage, AK

Dan, I have been a huge fan of yours since my older sister first brought home the Home Free album many years ago! It remains one of my favorite albums. Your music is always so uplifting to me and of all the musical artists I love, I'd have to say you are by far my favorite. I've seen you in concert twice and am looking forward to you recovering so I can one day see you again. Best wishes to you and your family as you continue your treatment. Fondly ~ Ann O'Brien

Dear Dan: You are the very best friend I never met. You have given us all so much of your heart and soul. You somehow manage to touch a person's heart deeply where we seldom allow anyone to go. You connect with us and through your music you have inspired people to connect with each other. I remember the mood of the audiences during your concerts. We all shared a common bond and the atmosphere was rife with warmth and kindness . . a kinship amongst strangers. You are the architect of bridges across generations, races, religions. No greater gift can one person give to the world. You are an inspiration for musicians and lay people alike. Over the years you have taken simple words and musical notes and fashioned them into some of the most beautiful and expressive pieces of music I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. I know I speak for so many of your fans when I say, Dan, you have made us see the human condition in a different light. Though the world can be a cold and heartless place at times, you gently remind us that we are all feeling creatures and I, for one, owe much of my gentler side to you. You ARE the best friend I never met. May God keep you and yours in his hands and safe from harm. My thought and prayers are with you. ~ Nancianne

I just finally got my first computer and had to write you and tell you that I think you are so wonderful. The first album that I ever heard of you was Home Free..I won it from a radio station in 1974 I believe. I was 14 yrs old at the time and have been listening to you since. I truly hope that you will do well in your treatment and my prayers are with you and your family! Thank you so much for giving me something wonderful that truly left its print on my heart ~ Sheryl

I would like to send best wishes to Mr. Fogelberg and pray that he has a full and speedy recovery. I have admired his work greatly over the years and the 1987 concert in which I saw him perform acousticly remains a high point in all my years of concert going.Get well soon Dan and come back stronger than ever. Sincerely ~ David Dorton.

Dan, we have loved your music for years. We saw you at Oakdale Theater in CT. It was a wonderful time. Our prayers are with you always and we have the faith that you will soon be back playing your wonderful songs. You are a gift to us from God and we will always love your music. Get better and come back to New England soon. We miss and love you. God be with you. ~ Brian & Melissa in Claremont, NH.

I want you to know that I am praying for you as God works to restore your health.

I've loved your music since the beginning and High Country Snows sealed my fate. I saw you were coming to Greensburg, PA and was thrilled to think I would hear your music live- I still believe I will. I send all my best prayers and thoughts to you and those you love. You will be lifted up and free- believe and it shall be- Sincerely ~ Mabel

So many of your songs are souvenirs for me. May you soon feel strong enough to continue sharing your talents. Best of everything. ~ Shane, Cape Elizabeth ME

Dear Dan: I have been a fan of yours since I was about 11 years old. My friend's older sister had your records and we used to listen to them. We snuck into her room when she was not home and listened to every word. I became a fan and we thought it was cool that you came from the Midwest. I have lived all my life in St.Louis. I always loved how poetic you wrote and the passion you put into your music. One of my favorite songs is," As The Raven Flies." I wish you and your family much strength & love to get through this trying time. I will keep you and your whole family in my thought's. Love&Light ~ Georgie Smith

Dear Dan, I first fell in love with your music during freshman year of college back in 1980. It's been 25 years now and I am still deeply touched by your words and music. I have never adequately been able to thank you for all the joy and insights you have brought to my life but now seems like a fitting time. Hopefully the gratitude of those you have touched in your journey will help bring healing in your fight against your prostate cancer. Peace to you and your family. You are in my prayers!!! ~ John O'Leary

It's not frequently in a lifetime that someone touches you with their poetry and/or music; Dan has been one of those whose artistry has really touched me throughout my life. From a young teenager in the 70's up until today, I have always enjoyed his music. It saddens me to hear the news of his illness. Dan, my deepest concern, thoughts, prayers and love are with you and your family at this time. Dan, when faced with the question of "if you could only take 1 CD with you" (on my vacation last summer) which one would it be?" Well, it was your "Portrait" compilation. I sat on the porch many early mornings and evenings, watching the sunrises and sunsets and the waves, listening with my headphones---just to YOU!! Thank you for the beautiful music and for obviously being the beautiful person you would have to be to write such fine music. Godspeed and best wishes for your recovery. From one of your many fans!!! ~ Dayna

Listening to your music has always made me happy and now I'm hoping that all our good wishes makes you feel happy, too. During the Christmas holidays your Christmas album was almost worn out, we played it so much. (Oh, that dates me, as I called a CD an album!!!) We'll continue to keep you in our prayers and will say an extra prayer each time we hear one of your songs on the radio. ~ Barb T.

Dan, So many have expressed their love for your music and have wished you well that I feel there is not a lot left to say to you. This is more therapeutic for me. I am praying for you each day and looking forward to the day I will see you in concert again. ~ Vida in TN

Dan, I just can't express in mere words the profound impact your music has had on me as a musician. I knew of you from a couple of songs in the 70's, but never really had much exposure until "The Innocent Age" album in '81. I was music major at Stetson U. for a brief stint and it really was a hit with all the music school students. I joined the Navy a few years after that and got back into playing guitar with some friends. I began researching your music so I could work on some pieces to get my chops back. I was so blown away by everything I heard that I bought anything I could get my hands on. I was completely captured by the depth and beauty of your lyrics and musicianship! I ended up with Home Free, Souvenirs, Captured Angel, Twin Sons, and Phoenix over the period of one cruise! A few years later I discovered the "Complete Songs" book and I was ecstatic! I have been a musician since my teens and written a few songs over the years, and I have to say without a doubt - You have been the biggest musical influence in my life! I have strived to hone my craft as a songwriter, always aspiring to achieve the level of beauty and honesty that you do. Yours is the only music that will bring a welling of tears to my eyes, and inspiration when I am low. Thank you for your music. You have been a blessing in my life and I just pray that you will be blessed with healing during your time of need. ~ Mike - Altamonte Springs, FL

Dear Dan: Please know that my husband and I have been fans of yours since our college days of the '70s. We loved your music then and have enjoyed hearing it change and deepen. Your words have made us more sensitive, more aware, more loving and have motivated us to protect the environment. You are a wonderful talent and you have much more to contribute to the world. As Winston Churchill said, "Never, never, never give up." Our thoughts and prayers are with you. ~ Jan and Tom Lovell, Clear Lake, Iowa

Dan, You've been my musical hero for 30 years. My beautiful wife, at age 38, was recently diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. We have both listened to your music long before we met and continue listening today. Your music speaks for itself. "Longer" was a favorite piece sung by friends at our wedding 18 1/2 years ago. Connie is here today and as beautiful as ever, (minus two breasts) and we love your music more than ever. We just want to wish you a healthy recovery and look forward to the personal and spirtual growth you will experience through this process. Best wishes to you and your family. Kevin and Connie ~ Big Lake, Minnesota

Mr Fogelberg, I have been a fan since album 1. Your music has helped shape my life. May you make a speedy recovery, Godspeed! ~ Steve Crowe, Pittsburgh, Pa.

Dan, Was thinking of you the other day while I was playing my guitar. Hope that the new year will be brighter for you and your family. I began playing again this past year after abandoning it for some time. Listening to your older tunes really has made me appriciate the gift of music more than ever before. It has been wonderful to start from the begining and discover your music all over again. The songs are truly timeless. They sound as good as the first day I heard them some 30 years ago. I know in my heart that you will very soon be back to writing and performing. This is your gift. You have been so blessed in your life by the creator and have touched so many hearts. I hope that all of these wishes will in some way brighten your day and keep you strong. Thank you so very much for your gifts of song. ~ John Tursic, Toledo, Ohio

Dear Dan - I have been a great fan of yours since I was a teenager (in the early '70's). I came to your website today to see what was new with you and found your news and could not have been more shocked. Your voice has been a voice that said things my heart felt but could not find the words to speak, your heart's voice made me feel as if I were not alone. Thank you! My prayers are with you and your family as I'm sure your health will return! As others have said here, I hope that our prayers, wishes and positive vibes have some measure of influence in your healing. With best and kindest wishes ~ Suzanne, Albany NY

Hi Dan, Greetings from a small town in Ohio. I've been wondering how you are doing and wanted to wish you well. I am an artist and recently your words from your bio, "You've got to just follow your heart and do your best work", and your music have inspired me to produce again. Although drawing is my first love, I'm working on two mixed media pieces. Even though they are not specifically about you, I keep thinking of you during the process. I love your music, but have not had the chance to see you in concert yet, which is something I still look forward to doing. You're so beautiful, Dan. In your own words, "Don't Lose Heart." You've touched so many people with your lyrics, your music, your beautiful voice and eyes, and your creative soul. We will "always be beside you." Sending positive and healing thoughts your way. Love ~ Sally Beda Phillips

Dear Dan - Your music has filled my life for three decades with love and warmth and many many memories, all good, from my days in Colorado, where I saw you at Red Rocks, to my days now as a more settled mom, and I know that with your positive spirit and faith that we will be the recipients of yet another inspirational tune from you soon. I continue to pray for you and your family every day. ~ Kelly Schumacher, Burlington, NC

Dear Dan and Family, Please know that you are all in my prayers daily for strength, courage, peace and a very quick recovery. I saw one of your concerts on PBS last night and it was wonderful. Having never see you in concert before made it all the more special. You and your music have been a part of my life since I first heard "Longer" and it has guided me and given me strength thru some extraordinary times. For that, I can never thank you enough. Hurry and get well, and I will keep checking your site for dates in Central Florida. Our God is truly an awesome God and I have complete faith that He will heal you and have you singing again in no time. Blessings to you all ~ Susan

Dan, Thanks so much! Your music has been part of the soundtrack of my life for over 25 years. You will continue to be in my prayers ~ Ken Garrett

Dear Dan, You are one of my favorite artists. My husband and I went to see you when we were at the University of Texas at Austin back in 1982. We had just met in an elective class called “The History of Rock’n Roll 1969 to the present” (he was majoring in Engineering and I was majoring in Accounting—you could say it was just fate). I had bought a ticket, but he had better seats, and happen to have two tickets, so we went together and had a super time! We have been married now 22 years this coming May, 2005, and he still plays alot of your acoustic tunes on his 12 string Martin guitar. I love so many of your songs that I cannot pick just one as a favorite. I mentioned your name to my boss, and he said he had seen you in concert six times. Later, he brought in a tape of your ’Dan Fogelberg Live-Greetings from the West’ concert; I enjoyed watching the tape. I rarely search the web, but I found your website, and I was shocked and heart broken when I read of your illness, but things will work out. We wish you the very best and you will be in our prayers. Thank you for all the wonderful and beautiful music you have given us and will continue to give us in the years to come. Take care and heal very soon. ~ Sean and Maria Childress, The Woodlands, TX

Hey Dan, I hope you are doing well and are feeling great love and peace. Colorado loves you. I hope to see you soon, come home to our mountains.

Dan, Your music brings me joy, peace, and happiness and your lyrics are as if sent by God. How lovely your songs are. I wish you the best and send you prayers and warm thoughts for a full recovery. This world of ours still needs you and your enchanting music. Be well, Dan. I am sending you love and prayers! Your fan ~ Roberta Gail Rudolf, Stratford, CT.

Dear Dan, I recently caught your show on PBS/WCEU in Central Florida. I was so pleasantly surprised to see you and your band, and hear your music. After the show I went to your web site. I have enjoyed your tender, sincere, loving and heartfelt music since I was in high school in the 70's. Watching you and your band brought back many sweet memories of past. It was on your web site that I read of your condition. My prayers are with you and your family during your treatment and healing process. I look forward to more of your magical music. I have found your lyrics and music have a way that moves ones soul. God is blessing you. Sincerely ~ Diane Fisher

Like to so many others, your music has been second to none since I first heard the incredible 'Scarecrow's Dream' around the age of 13. I can remember wondering what it must be like for you to go through all of the experiences that must have been so magical for you - so fresh. I used to imagine what it must have been like for you to experience the newness of discovering the world as your popularity and career soared and to fall in love at that time in your life while all of the magic swirled around you. I always thought that your muse was the most fortunate on earth even though I was too young to really understand such things. I saw you perform everytime you were close to Hampton Roads, Va. I would neurotically fly to get your latest albums as soon as they'd have them at the record store. As a teenager I'd have all of my girlfriends over to lay-out in the sun and every one of your albums that could possibly fit onto the record player would keep us mesmerized in the backyard (in betwixt our silly giggles) as, one by one, they'd plop down under the needle and blast out from my bedroom window. That was The Innocent Age era (and every record before that). I went to your website for your schedule in November and discovered the news of your illness. Nearly fell out of my chair!.....I was stunned as you've been a part of my life for so long. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Like everyone else, I know that you'll come through this ordeal. I do so hope that our expressions and positive vibes help with your healing. Has to! What magic you've afforded me! (Thank you God for giving us Dan!) Thank you Dan for never forsaking your gifts and, in turn, sharing so much of that with us! I feel that my life has been so much richer because of you! I'm looking forward to more of that generous sharing after your healing. Wishing you and your family love, strength, peace, and God's warm embrace during your healing. With Love ~ Valarie

I met a beautiful girl in southern california in the mid1970's.She was your girlfriend then. I was traveling and she had me listen to your first album and you had signed it. I fell in love with your music at that moment. I took the album to Greensboro College and people fell in love with it. I was the girl who listened to 'To The Morning' every morning. I love you for touching my heart. ~ Kathyrn

My heart and prayers go out to Dan and his family. Not only does this effect Dan, ,it will efffect the family. I went thru the same thing with my dad in 1990. Dan, I grew up on all your music. Best music ever. You've touched so many hearts. Now our hearts will be yours. You will beat this disease.I have faith.and so do all your fans. Take care and God bless you, Dan. ~ Russell

Hello: Your music has been a major part of the soundtrack of my life since the early 80s. "The Innocent Age" and "Souvenirs" are two of my all-time favorite albums, and my friends and I spent many hours listening to and discussing them in the dorms during our college years. My roommate and I saw your concert in Norman, OK in '81, I think. The concert was a delayed birthday celebration; I share your birthday and my friend thought that was the perfect gift, which it was. My brother sang "A Love Like This" at my wedding. I listen to "Bones in the Sky" when I want to think of Santa Fe (which is often). I appreciate and respect your spirit and your talent, and pray for health and strength for you and your family. Peace--and joy. ~ Melissa Bruner

The nights you and your music kept this lonely soul company driving back and forth between Ojai and Santa Barbara. I could never repay you for this. One of the first people to show me the earth and all of its creatures, the sacredness of it. You helped show me how to look at nature and to really see the beauty. These are some of the few life lessons that you helped shape for me and have helped me in my chosen path. I pray for your recovery, and that you may once again saddle up and bring us the joy of music. Godspeed ~ Tim Albuquerque, NM

Dear Dan - I remember the day my friend and roommate played "Home Free" for me - it was 1974 and I was dumbstruck to think that someone as young as I was could create such amazing music. That record changed my life and also had a lot to do with motivating me to write music of my own and pursue a career as a professional musician myself. Even if you had never written another note, I would owe you big-time for that album. Of course, you've written lots and lots (and lots) of other notes, and all of them have been inspirational, and I have absolutely no doubts that you will overcome this struggle and go on to write lots and lots (and lots) of notes in the years to come. You will be in my thoughts, for the guidance your music has always given me and for the joy it has brought to so many others. Get well soon! I look forward to seeing you onstage again in Seattle when you are completely recovered and set out on your next World Tour! All the best ~ David Cooper, Shoreline, Washington

Dan, As a performing songwriter who started back in the 70's, your music, live performances and production values had a profound creative impact upon me. My prayers for a speedy and complete recovery go up on your behalf. ~ Kevin Stonerock, Indiana

Dear Dan, You are in my thoughts and prayers. I have been a fan of yours for as long as I can remember. I have an older sister that played your albums all the time. When I was old enough to appreciate music, and had money in my pocket, yours was the music I would buy. I had some of your music in my wedding so many years ago. The marriage failed but the music stills lives in my heart.

I bought The Very Best of Dan Fogelberg today, and as I was listening to it, I decided to get on the net just to discover the news of your cancer.I was diagnosed with cancer 4 years ago. I still do not know which was worse the cancer or the cure!! Be happy with yourself and live life to the fullest. God never gives us more then we can handle. You have millions of fans praying for you, and prayers works. You will be back to making sweet music in no time. ~ Lisa R. Hawkins

Dear Dan, I foolishly thought while in college that every song you wrote, some how it was for me. Each morning of the best year of my life I heard, "To the Morning", and felt blessed for just having heard it. That was many years ago, but I listen to you often still, and through tears of happiness and sadness I feel as though you knew me well. Funny how it feels as if you were the only one who really "got me", without ever even knowing me. I thank you for that. I pray for you and your family, that each day you will be well, and know that there are so many people whose lives you've touched. My one wish when I was younger and even now would be to meet you face to face. You are my hero. Much love ~ MC, Nashville, TN

Mr. Fogelberg, I wish you strength in your delicate fight!! My prayers are with you. God Speed ~ Blake

God Bless you Dan. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers and may you have a full recovery. Your music has brought great joy to me and I look forward seeing you again concert very soon. ~ Mary Isaacs

Dan, May you be blessed with life by the unifying force of the Great Holy Spirit.

Dan, Just attended Andy Driscoll's tribute show "Longer" last Friday. It was great. As a fellow Peorian as well as a prostate cancer survivor, I wish you speedy recovery. I hope to attend one of your concerts at the Peoria Civic Center some day. My thoughts and prayers are with you. ~ J.M., Peoria

Dear Dan, You are in my thoughts and prayers as I ask God to bless you with a full recovery. I can only say "Thank You" for the wonderful songs that your poured from your soul into my heart. From the moment I heard "To The Morning" you had me hooked. May you draw from the peace and majesty of the beautiful Rockies to help you beat your illness. My best to you and your family ~ Debi R, Belleville,IL

It's over 30 years now since I bought my first Dan Fogelberg album and you've remained a firm favorite ever since. I sincerely hope that you make a full and speedy recovery from your illness and.....who knows, you may even make it to Edinburgh for a show at some time in the future !! ~ Derek, Uphall, Nr Edinburgh, Scotland

The Good Lord has blessed you with a talent that you've shared with your fans for many years. May He bless you with good health and the peace of mind only He can give...Our prayers are with you always. Sincerest best wishes ~ Jim LeVier

Dear Dan, you're like that really cool friend of my older brother's. You know the one that's always around, always there for dinner, the one that, as a younger sister, had the biggest crush on. When the news of your diagnosis came my way I was truly upset and worried for you and for your family. My prayers went out immediately for you. You will never know how much your beautiful and touching words and the powerful sounds from your many instruments have been with me over these many years. As an older mom of a 4 year old ( I'm only 43) your music has really touched my soul in so many ways and at many times of my life. Good and bad. You go to the outer banks with me when we sit on the beach and you also mow the yard with me. You're always around. Now the next generation of Dan fans has begun. Lance's favorite cd is a toss up between Nether Lands and my favorite, The Innocent Age. It's really neat to watch. He either requests you or Pat Metheny. A well balanced musical diet. Hold strong. Pray to whomever your higher power may be and remember we are all thinking of you. Many thanks and love ~ Marla from Kansas City

Dan, I have been a big fan since the 1970's.I wanted to express my gratitude to you on behalf of so many of us of my (our) generation, for capturing and expressing, through your lyrics and music, the beauty, the emotions and the milestones that we share as we pass through the different phases of life. I have been playing most of your compostions since the late 1970's on guitar and piano and I hope that the good Karma that you have shared with us will start to pay its dividends. Sorry that you missed your annual jaunt to the Westbury Music Fair on Long Island, but we are looking forward to your speedy recovery and your return to the road. When you feel up to going back on the road. My wife and I have been enjoying your shows at Madison Square Garden, Nassau Colliseum, Jones Beach and more recently Westbury. We look forward to your speedy recovery, our prayers are with you. ~ Frank S. Scagluso, Esq.

Dear Dan and your loved ones, Thank you for your words and music. I like so many others, have spent many a day and night with you and found huge comfort in good and bad times. May you find comfort in those that love you. Godspeed for your recovery.~ A

Dear Daniel, words cannot tell how good your music feels to me. Words cannot tell how much my prayers are for you. Keep strong. ~ C. Ketels from The Netherlands (Holland)

Dear Dan and your loved ones- Thank you for your words and music. I, like so many others, have spent many a day and night with you and found huge comfort in good and bad times. May you find comfort in those that love you. Godspeed for your recovery. ~ A

Dear Dan, A girl that I dated back in 1978 at Skyline High turned me onto your music. Her name was Terri and as most high school romances go ..... this one didn't last. I've never stopped listening to your music however and have been to many of your concerts in the Dallas area. I get in these Dan Fogelberg moods and have to listen to your music. Your music has truly enriched my life and I just wanted to say thanks. I'm praying for you, Dan, and I know this cancer thing is just a bump in the road. I hope you'll put Dallas on your list when you start touring again as there are so many in Texas that love your music. Best wishes ~ John R - Mckinney,Tx

Dan : So many positive thoughts and prayers are coming from me, often, for you. Your diagnosis is just one more connection I feel to you and your music. My father is a prostate cancer survivor (8 years so far). I discovered your music in high school and it followed me to Champaign where you had just left. My roommate was from Pekin, so we shared a great connection with your music. I have seen you almost every time you have come to Houston in the last 25 years, beginning with the now torn down Music Hall. It was a solo concert and it was simply amazing. My husband and I even took our then 10 year old daughter to one of your concerts in the Woodlands. I wish I could say that you were her favorite artist, but, at age 21, she has more current tastes. :-( But I do think many of the artists she listens to have been influenced greatly by you and my other favorite Jackson Browne. You have been a part of the every day life in our house for many years, and only the most positive thoughts and wishes are going out to you. Thank you so much for all you have sacrificed to give us such a huge part of you - your music.

Dear Dan and Jean, I am writing again to wish you the very best in medical care as you fight this disease. Please know that you have millions of friends in the fans you have created over the years. We have drawn strength and inspiration from your music and in turn wish to give strength and inspiration back to you. I have listened to your albums since first hearing Souvenirs and Captured Angel in 1974 back at FSU. As technology changed, I bought CD's of all your albums and have seen you in concert in cities ranging from Boston to LA to Tampa, Florida as I moved around the country with my job. I treasure those memories and eagerly look forward to seeing you perform in concert again very soon. Take comfort in the prayers spoken on your behalf, and in the positive thoughts and energy being sent your way. Bask in the warmth and the love of your dear wife Jean. Take care. ~ Vicki of Tampa and St. George Island, Florida

Dan - just enjoying your music, hope you make much more.

Dear Dan, I hope that the battle with your illness will still be in good progress. I will keep on praying for you and your family. Hopely this severe period in your life will somehow fill you with renewed inspiration. That your creativity will keep on strong. With kind regards ~ Hans van Eck, The Netherlands

Dan-I just wanted to let you know that I first saw you play live in 1978 at Indiana University when some girls at the dorm convinced me to go. As a shy and awkward freshman, it was an unusual leap for me to make, but it was one that changed my life at college. I went out the next day and bought every album you had recorded up until then (through Nether Lands) and still own them to this day. I know that I would not have made it through some of the tough times without those records. When it seemed like I didn't have a friend in the world your voice pulled me through and gave me the hope to keep going. Of course, the angst of my early years gave way to adulthood and a much happier (and normal) life. The first night I met my husband one of your songs was playing at the restaurant. He made a comment about how he'd always liked your music and I took it as a legitimate sign that I'd finally found the right guy. No offense to you at all, but any guy that will admit he likes Dan Fogelberg music on a first date must be a pretty secure and sensitive person. Fourteen years later he still is, and once again you and your music played a profound part in my life. PLEASE take care of yourself and beat this illness! So many love you and are keeping you in their prayers. Please add my husband and myself to that list. Love to you and your family ~ Dr. Christy A. Osborne, Muncie, IN

Dan, In the 80's your music meant so much to me. I played and sang "Leader Of The Band" for my Dad's 60th b-day. It brought tears to his eyes and I had my sister do in calligraphy "Thank you for the kindness and the times when you got tough, and Papa I don't think I said I love you near enough" and frame it. Dad died a year ago of cancer, Mom gave me the framed lyrics and I have them in my house, and I recently got back into your music, and bought a greatest hits CD for my wife who was not familiar with your music. She LOVES it. I came to your website hoping to find out about tours and found this news. I am so sorry. I will pray for you and your family at this time. I hope you consider finding some natural support to boost your ability to fight off this disease. My best to you ~ Dr. Bruce M. Guillory

Dan, I was told last year that I would be on crutches the rest of my life, due to an inherited medical condition. Last month I began walking without the crutches, and am now expected to make a complete recovery. Miracles happen every day -recovery can suddenly arrive an unexpected way, much like that dove that flies through the window in one of your songs. (P.S. I sing locally in a choir. Now that I am released from the severe pain and stress of illness, people have been commenting that my singing is the best it's ever been - and guess whose compositions I love to sing the most?) Sincerely ~ Missy

Dan, I posted my thoughts and prayers for you early on, but I just wanted to let you know that I think of you often and are keeping you in my prayers. Let us know how you are doing when you get a chance. I look forward to the day when I can see you again. I wish you well. Hang in there! You have a very large support group of fans/friends. ~ Angela, Knoxville

Dear Dan, Here I am listening to Souvenirs. I am thinking of you and your family and I am really hoping you are doing well. Fight the good fight.Old guys like me who remember where and what I was doing when I heard your first record are fighting the ravages of age and the life-changes that happen with them. Your music inspired me to be an artist. I have learned to follow your passion, and to follow your dreams wherever they take you. This I learned from you. I remember my first love when I listen to your first couple of albums. It was a magical time for me. My memories strengthen me in the daily travails of this life. Find your inner strength, your peace and your fight for life itself. When you recover and schedule a show in the SF bay area, this fan will make your next show no matter what. I want to meet you and say hi. Peace ~ Bill D., Santa Clara CA.

Dear Dan, My spirit is bound to your music, which I have rediscovered with delight and joy. I'm sixty years old and often use music to soften the edges of this old world. When I surround my head with your music I nourish my soul. That, kind sir, is when your spirit is fed. If I could hold you in my arms... Peace be with you. Sylvia

Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We so enjoy your music and have for many years. We have also enjoyed several of your live concerts around North Carolina. Peace. ~ Amanda Lee and Tim Fox

Hang on, Dan, we need you more than you can imagine.

Dear Dan, I was shocked and saddened to hear of your illness. I have listened to your music since your very first album came out. You have always been my favorite, and I have seen you in concert 7 times. I know how difficult treatment for cancer is. I hope you have a wonderful support group of friends and family. God is also walking beside you , helping you through this difficult time. I will pray for miracles. I am writing this from the Ronald McDonald House of New York City. My 4 year old daughter, Shannon, had a bone marrow transplant in December, as a last chance for a cure from relapsed leukemia. We will ask all our friends and family to pray for you as well. I will always love your music. ~ Gayle

Dan, My husband and I attended the concert in your honor at the Scottish Rite Cathedral in Peoria, IL last night. I had tears in my eyes during several of your songs. Memories rushed back into my head of your dad at Pekin High when they played your song Leader of the Band. I was in the PCHS orchestra 69-72 & your dad filled in & lead us during practice often, he was a great guy! Thanks for all the memories, you are in my thoughts & prayers. I know your dad was smilin from up above last night during that concert. Central Illinois is proud of you both! ~ Betty

Hi Dan...Oddly enough, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer 3 weeks ago.Odd because I've been sending you healing thoughts since this site was begun.I hope it's not sympathy pains. I started listening to your words and tunes in 1975, and have followed you along ever since.Every album/CD. I'll have my mp3 player on in recovery on February 9th, with a selection of your stories that are most healing to me. "Ever On", "To The Morning", "Whispers In The Wind", etc. "Spirit Trail" is going to be particularly important. I suffer an anxiety/panic disorder...which doesn't mix well with 1st time surgery. I'm so damned scared in truth.

But I can hear you singing "The Spirit Trail"-- "walking the walk of a warrior." I'm keeping that in mind Daniel. God, does this sound naive, or polyanna-ish? But it is true nonetheless. Your music has (how many times have you heard this?) been a sound-track for the loves in my life. It speaks to the lonely soul in me, and the brave-heart seeking to be just at all costs. Your words will give me strength, Dan. At 55 it feels as it did when I wrote to The Beatles in '64.This is truly different and I thank you for your gifts...from the heart. Dan, I pray this mail finds you ever healthier, ever stronger, ever more peaceful, ever more ready to begin something new. With much love and admiration ~ Ron Kolman, Highland Park, Illinois

Dear Dan, I'm not in the habit of sending "notes from a fan", it's not my style. But I just felt the need to tell you that I've been listening to your music since I was 15 years old. My sister had your "Nether Lands" 8-track (nothing will date you like saying you listened to 8-tracks), and I've been a fan ever since. Nether Lands is still my favorite. I would wish for all musicians what your fans feel for you and your music. God Bless ~ Ann Martin

Dear Dan, Best wishes for a speedy recovery. I remember seeing you play at the Pioneer Inn in Nederland in the mid 70s. "Looking for a Lady" was always one of my favorites. Hope to see you back on the road soon. Thank you ~ Dick Franks

Dear Dan -I visited your site and just found out about your illness. Friend, don't give up. Soon you will be again in on stage and I promise to travel to USA and to see you there. When listening to your songs I realized that a great part of the best songs I've listened to in my life are yours. Thank you.One day accidentally I discovered Phoenix in a disqueria of Buenos Aires, then a friend who had been in USA had me listen to Twin Sons. The would bring me albums from NY and this is how I acheived my collection. This way slowly you astonished me. Thank you for all beautiful days that you have brought me and I hope to hear of your return soon. ~ Oscar.

Dear Dan, I met you personally several years ago when you came to South Florida for a concert. At the time I told you I had received a kidney transplant after waiting 10 years on Dialysis. Going back stage and meeting you and thanking you for what your music has meant to me for so many years was the next to the transplant the high moment of my life. and am absolutely knocked out to hear you are going through this difficulty and will immediately begin praying for you and a full healthy recovery. Since that day we met my transplant failed after 20 wonderful years January 2000. and I began the process of getting back on the list and having another chance at normal life. on 12/29/04 10 pm I went home from Dialysis feeling hopeless that my future was fading fast and decided I was not going back for another treatment and started to prepare my final wishes and get my house in order at the age of 49. Exactly 1 hour later 10pm I got a call on my pager from Tampa Life Link that a Kidney had become available and it was an excellent match and to come immediately for surgery.....HOW ABOUT THAT! There is a God, my friend, and I know he loves you and will bless you in good health again ! Hang in there, you are special and I know the treatments today are working and successful and the doctors have many weapons at there disposal that were not around just a few years ago. I will pray for you every night for however long it takes, but I will do it confidently knowing your health will be restored ! Best Wishes Alway ~ Minard

Dear Dan, You have always been an inspiration to me. Your music has helped get through various phases of my life. I have felt the compasion in your music for those of us who have loved and lost and then found love again. I always know that no matter what mood I am in, I can pull out one of your many albums/8-tracks/cassettes/CD's and know that your songs will help me through. I know that the thoughts and prayers of all of your fans will help you through this difficult time, just as you have helped us through ours. I also wanted to let you know that not only have I been to many of your concerts in Colorado, I have convert several other people. We LOVE to watch you at Red Rocks and when you were the first performer at Fiddler's Green we made sure that we were there with you. I know that you can beat this illness and look forward to seeing

you again in Colorado!!!! My love & prayers ~ Sindy Broomfield, CO

The wonderful memories that I have of you and your music go back so many years. My best boyfriend and I used to listen to your music every date we had. I loved you and your sound so much that Longer was the song at my wedding in 1981. Has it been that long? Wow. I still cry when I hear that from your beautiful mouth. I have worked in the urology field for almost 30 years now and I know you have a tremendous road facing you. Know that you are loved and prayed for. Hope the treatments are not too extremely horrible. Take care. Longer ~ J

Hi Dan- I just wanted to thank you for your music. Before I married I knew nothing about your songs and music- but my wife enlightened me. I saw your last concert in Peoria and singing "let it shine" will always be a great memory. I am also a pharmacist at a oncology clinic in Peoria and in the event you would come back here for any reason please don't hesitate to ask for help. I pray that your therapy is going well. Sincerely ~ Chris Walker Rph

Dear Dan, recently I decided to get down all of your albums that have been stored away. They really brought back some memories. I had to chuckle when I found 2 Souvenirs, 2 Captured Angel and 3 Home Free albums! I had forgotten that I had worn out 2 Home Free's and had to get a third (I wonder if anyone can top that?) Of course, as sentimental as I am I just couldn't part with the first 2 crackly ones! My husband said he wants to get all of your cd's for me (a few at a time). I expect he will be "surprising' me with some on Valentine's Day and my Birthday coming up. Did you ever imagine that you would have so many people who love you? I hope these wishes are a comfort and strength to you and make you smile. Although we don't know you, we feel like we do through your music. I want you to know that you and your family are on my prayer list. Prayer is powerful and God is an awesome God! With love and best wishes, S.L.

Dear Dan, Thank you so much for all of the wonderful songs that have inspired me ever since I heard your very first album. I played a collection of your music when I was expecting my first child. All through my pregnancy, and during my labor and delivery, I exposed my son to your wonderful tunes, poetry, and melodies. He is 23 now, and still loves your music. I pray that your progress in fighting this illness continues until you win the battle.I have every album that you have produced, and know most of the lyrics by heart. I look forward to your next collection of songs that I know you will be able to produce. Much love ~ Kathy Pryor Arlington, Washington

Dan, I cannot explain to you in a brief e-mail how much your music has meant to me throughout my life - I rarely go an entire day without listening to at least part of your "Very Best Of" album. "Believe In Me" has a extra-special place in my heart - It is so beautiful. I grew up in Maine and lived there for about 25 years, and until 8 or 10 years ago my family had a summer camp on the coast in Brunswick - I spent almost every weekend of every summer there - so I understand and share your love for the Maine Coast. Unfortunately I have never made it to one of your concerts but I am looking forward to that changing someday in the near future! I wish you all the best in coping with your illness and a swift road to recovery, and please remember at all times that millions and millions of people are praying for you and your family every single day - Thank-you so much for touching my life with your music. ~ Jen Murphy, Houston, TX

Dearest Dan and Family, my heart and prayers go out to you and your family as you fight you illness. Dan you are loved and respected by so many. You have the love of a wonderful woman and family. Godspeed and god bless you and your family. ~ Lisa S., Wilkes-Barre, PA

Dear Dan, I am stunned this morning to read of your illness. This is the first time I have visited your website even though I have been a great fan of yours since my roommate first played "To the Morning" in our dorm room at Virginia Tech in 1975. As an English teacher in a somewhat rural/university community, I'm always trying to find ways to excite the students. Over the years, your song lyrics have provided much of that excitement as well as providing excellent examples of literary devices. Before coming to school this morning, I pulled out "The Wild Places" so a new student could read the lyrics to "Anastasia's Eyes." Her name is Anastasia, and I think she will enjoy reading the lyrics and hearing the music. You have an ability to capture and put into words what many of us would like to be able to express verbally. Please know you will be in my thoughts and prayers. Sincerely ~ Bonnie, Christiansburg, Virginia

Just want you to know that I pray for you daily. I am sure you understand how much your music means to us as I know artists have deeply affected your life. I remember you talking about Mark Heard, and burn, "the poet." As a songwriter and a kindred soul I feel like I "have walked beside you, even while walking alone." Thanks for those long road trips. I remember hitchhiking over Independence Pass from Aspen to see you in Vail with this maniac driver. I didn't think I would make it. I just remember you walking from the grand to the guitar one impeccable song after another.I believe you will live to play. You are in good hands my friend. Agape ~ Sandie

I can only imagine how difficult a time this is for you, your family, and close friends. As you manage through the discomforts of illness and even the treatments, know that you are thought of and prayed for by so many who have never really met you. Your songs have touched so many lives. Your song "Icarus" comes to mind so often when I think of what you're having to endure. The lyrics are so liberating, but not just as your 'theme song' for your music career, To me, it is about finding a sense of peace as each of us wrestles with our own mortality and what waits on the other side, not to be feared. I hope that in this time, you've not be hesitant to reach out further to envelope yourself with the love of true friends and family. You need to need them, and they need to be able to find ways to help you as well. God made us 'relational creatures' and we need each other. My prayers are for your recovery, your personal growth, physical & emotional strength and comfort you can find in people and God. Blessings to you who have found a way in your life to help others! ~ Patty S, Indianapolis, IN

Hope your health issues are soon resolved. Had heard alot of "Same Old Lang Syne" through the holiday season and it prompted me to dig out an old LP to play one of my all time favorite songs, "The Last Nail." Your music brings back many pleasant memories. Thank you for that. ~ Carolyn B., Niagara Falls, NY

Dear Dan and Jean, I check in on your site periodically hoping for a glimpse of good news in your battle against PC. Each and every time I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and emotion of your fans. If intercessory prayer can help heal, dear sir, you are certainly bathed in it. Perhaps the most important healing comes from within. Your lyrics have helped strengthened so many of us in our own battles throughout the years. May your own grit and determination help you dig in your heels in the darkest of nights to fight this weary fight with the grace that you have so eloquently shared with us throughout the decades. It is amazing that a man who seems so private, can seem to be such a kindred spirit to us all. I hope the music will always play in your spirit. Thank you for sharing your gift. Your music is inextricably woven through so many memories-of joy and sorrow. I hope your spirit is strong and that you are surrounded by those you love. Continued prayers and best wishes to you both. ~ Janet

Dear Dan, I have loved your music since the summer of 1984. I heard "Leader of the Band" and got hooked. I traded in my Les Paul Custom for a Taylor 710 acoustic and was well on my way to honing my ear by teaching myself how to play every Dan Fogelberg song I could get on cassette tape. My prayers are with you and your family. God Bless my friend and thank you for the music. ~ John Y., Michigan

Dear Dan, I just want you to know that your music has been very important in my life. You have a gift that is special and I am glad that you have chosen to share it with us. I pray for you often and hope you are well soon. A fan forever. ~ Nanett from Tennessee

Dear Dan, I have enjoyed your music for many years. Your talent is remarkable! Your music, voice, lyrics are so meaningful to me. Your love and dedication for our wildllife and this beautiful Earth has always impressed me--I feel the same way! You are in my thoughts and prayers. Please stay strong in your heart and spirit. ~ Judy from Ohio

Mr. Fogelberg, Best wishes to you for a full recovery. I enjoyed listening to and playing your music for over 20 years and look forward to sharing your live performances with my kids as well. I hope to see you in Atlanta soon. Warm wishes to your family as well.

Please stay strong in your mind and heart, and don't forget that so many of us are thinking of you and sending prayers on your behalf. Look forward to the day that you and your family see this as a victory you overcame when faced with a menacing obstacle. I know you can beat this Dan. I'm counting on it. Take care and again.keep the faith! ~ Chicago Fan

Dan - Thank you for the way you reach my soul with your music. As years have passed, your songs continue to draw me in.I am a school teacher and often have your music playing as my students study. Many of them have become curious and are finding that they, too, can be touched by your work. My prayers will be with you as you regain your health and strength. I believe that the power of God is going to touch you. Peace and strength ~ TS, Iowa

I work on the radio here in Pittsburgh. Ever since college I have enjoyed your music and have been glad when I got the chance to play it on various stations where I've worked. Your music continues to touch me and be a part of my life. I thank you for the beauty, the feeling, the spirit in your work. I don't think I could even begin to choose a favorite song, there are so many. Too often we don't reach out and let people know what they mean to us, whether friends, family, or even strangers. I wanted to let you know there is one more soul you touched, one more human being sending her thoughts and prayers. To use your own lyrics, 'bid all your sorrows be still." I hope they are and that each day is better than the last. May all the good wishes bring you strength. ~ Leah Klocko

I've recently rediscovered your genius after a long time away from the music. Being exposed to your music from my brother as he played your thoughts on his guitar when I was a bright eyed boy, I developed a bond with your music like no other. It truly makes me sad to find you now in this battle. However, in case you haven't figured it out yet, your will to live is what's gonna get you through this . Not medicine or anything else but your mental outlook. If you want to live then live and let no one tell you different. I personally want to see and hear you in concert some day as do a lot of other fans who have a great appreciation for you. You have to take stock of everything around you (family, friends and the love of your life: music) and not just appreciate them but get excited and inspired. I'm counting on you now to live for me, your family, friends and the music that you have given to so many people. I wish you the best, my brother, and may God be with you in these days of battle. Glory will be yours.

I was introduced to you in the mid 70's by a boyfriend who thought I would like your music because I sang and directed choirs. I listened to Souvenirs and was changed forever. The music was beautiful, but as an English major in college I decided that anyone who could write this in a song was too good to be true: "Here is a key to a house far away where I used to live as a child. They tore down the building when I moved away and left the key unreconciled." Amazing! My home office was just painted and I had a navy border painted around the top. Written in the border is my favorite: "There's a spark of the creator in every living thing. He respects me when I work, but he so loves me when I sing."

You have touched my life and I thank you. You are in my prayers - I know that prayers are powerful. Stay strong and surround yourself with positive energy. I listen to your music (and Beethoven, and Mozart and Brahms etc. I will keep you in my prayers. You have given me such comfort and joy for so many years. I have brain cancer and in Aug of 2003 they said maybe a year. This is the worst cancer. I'm still here and listening to your music. After treatments and 3 surgeries I am still fighting. Prayers from all over the country are made for me - they are powerful. Stay positive, don't let any negativity around you. I respect your privacy (although you are the one person I'd love to talk with and share a coffee (since I can't drink any longer!!!) My best to you and your family. We are the same age - I'm too stubborn and ornery to give in. I wish you health and life.Your music is like an old friend giving me comfort. Thank you for all you've given and continue to give with your music. That gift cannot be underestimated. ~ Dani, Las Vegas

Dear Dan, I knew I had to write to you when my 9-year old daughter heard "Leader of the Band" on the radio and said, "Mom, listen! That's your Dan!". I've called you "Dan-My-Man" Fogelberg since I was a college student at the University of Illinois in Champaign many, many years ago. I've been blessed to see you in concert in Champaign, Chicago, Michigan and Oregon. Although I've enjoyed each and every concert, seeing you in Oregon on the outdoor stage at Sokol Blosser winery and listening to your music while the sun was setting is a memory I will cherish forever. I wish you as much peace and happiness as you have given others through the gift of your music. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Sincerely ~ Lori in Oregon

Everything I've ever done creatively in my life, all the coffee houses I've played at, all the songs I have written once upon a time have been largely inspired by you. You pulled me through some awful times and were with me in the good times. Thank you for being there even if you never knew it. Best wishes and please get well soon. ~ Ken Barz, Westminster, CO

Dear Dan, My mother played your songs for me as a child and I've loved your music all of my 31 years. Thank you for it all! Best wishes to you and yours, and I know you will get well soon. ~ Sarah Udell, Colorado Springs, Colorado

Dan, I can't even begin to describe what your music has meant to me. No other has touched my soul as deeply as you have. I have always had this desire to express my thoughts in music and still do, but just wasn't given the talent in this lifetime. You have spoken for me in your songs and music. I feel I have a soul bond with you in some way. I can't even begin to thank you. ~ Michael McMahon, Colorado Springs, CO

Dan - I just found your website and read the news of your diagnosis. I am saying prayers and sending all my positive energy your way. Thank you for all the beautiful music - it was so meaningful to me during my youth. And I still sing along every time I listen to one of your songs. You have touched so many lives with your god-given gift. We are all pulling for you to come thru this. ~ Lori

I first heard Dan's song "To The Morning" in my twenties and wondered who he was. I went to every concert of his in Cleveland for the next twenty-five years and loved every minute of each one. Nether Lands is my favorite album, it did at the time and still does capture my heart, although it's more painful now that I've lived a life. I wish him all the best with regard to his illness, and send my love and gratitude for all the beautiful music along the way.

Dear Dan, t's probably not possible to say what your music and your concerts have meant to me and my life. I can't imagine what my life would be like had I not been introduced to your music so many, many years ago. Eventually, my love for your music specifically and directly became the medium that brought me and the woman who is now my wife together. Hours and days untold have unfolded into years of appreciation for you and your music. It's impossible to say how many people, family and friends, strangers and peers, have asked me about you and your music when they see the shirts of your tours and concerts that have "somehow" become so predominant in my wardrobe. It seems unnecessary to say, as it's quite obvious, but it's important that you know how much you mean to so many. Your voice is far from a voice in the wilderness, it cries out what many cry out, it sings what hearts everywhere sing, and it is indeed now a voice of and for the wilderness, strong and poignant. There is strength, too, in the songs of support that these letters sing to you, Dan. Strength in thanksgiving, strength in love, strength in hope and faith and prayer. You've been there for us through the years, we've been there with you through the years, and we're together now, stronger than ever. Kindred spirits ever on, dear sir, kindred spirits ever on. May you feel strength in our prayers for your quick and complete return to full health. ~ Jim and Patti Lunsford, Alpine, CA

Dear Dan and family, Our sincerest wishes for a speedy recovery! We're looking forward to seeing you back out on the road. Our most favorite evening out is attending one of your concerts, they're absolutely magical. You're the best, Dan! We love you and your music. Get well soon. Your devoted fans ~ Kathleen and Chuck Kennedy

Mr. Fogelberg, (Dan) - I listened to The Innocent Age just the other day. It has been awhile, as my life, with my family is more hectic these days. It reminded me that you were fighting a disease and that I needed to take a minute and say I care! Your music was so much a part of my life growing up. And in many ways you were always there for me. So I think I can be there for you too. You and your family are in my prayers. God Bless you! ~ Terry McGivern, Allison Park, PA

Dear Dan, I've been listening to you and your music for 30+ years. May the love of your fans surround you in this difficult time and give you strength. I am praying for your recovery and planning on attending your next L.A. concert. ~ Cathy R - Anaheim, CA

Dear Dan, I wrote an essay about one of your most beautiful love songs "Make Love Stay," well lo and behold I made a 100! Just wanted to let you know this. May God and all his peace and glory encase you as you go through this illness Dan. My prayers are constantly with you. I love to sing along with all of your music. ~ Mary Jane Miles Kentucky

Thank you for all the joy you have brought me over the years. I had the pleasure of seeing you, not for the first time, live at House of Blues on Sunset in LA a few years ago. I hope to be able to attend many more concerts in the future. I know what you are going thru now is wrenching to both body and soul. I hope that God will always hold you in the palm of his hand and see you thru this dark tunnel. There is light at the end of the tunnel. God Bless. ~ Christine Celine Criner

Dear Dan, Thank you for your music, and the enjoyment it has given me. I will always remember attending a moonlight concert you gave at the Waikiki Shell back in '86 or '87 as one of the most wonderful evenings of music I have ever seen and heard. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. ~ Monte in Burlington, WA

Dan, If it's true that what we say or do comes back ten-fold, then there should be an avalanche of good vibrations coming your way. My wife and I have been fans since we first heard your music way back when. I once heard a story told by another fan of his greatest memory of a college concert you gave and the subsequent invitation to an after-concert get-together. He and his friends were blown away by your showing up and playing again for them in their intimate setting. He even shared with me the intro that you taught him to "As The Raven Flies" and I've always felt somehow closer to that song because of that. Finally, on our way to the Star theater in Indiana shortly after the release of "Exiles", I heard that it was to be a solo performance and thoughts ran thru my mind as to how fearless you must be to try and carry the whole night alone. Your performance was nothing less than brilliant and I walked away not knowing whether to be inspired to play or to hang it up and never play again. After a good night's sleep, I realized that the message of your music and your strength that's felt within could never be anything but inspiring. I'll never stop playing my music until they put me in the ground. Thank you for everything...be courageous as always...I'll be praying for you... ~ JC

Hi Dan, Sorry to hear your news. Get well soon. Hope to see you touring the UK soon!! ~ Andy Williams, Manchester UK

Dan, I became a fan of yours 18 years ago when I met my husband, a hopeless romantic that wrote me poems and played your songs for me. A year and 3 months ago he passed away from colon cancer, and I miss him terribly. His name was Ed. Your music has helped me in so many ways since them. It allows me some small degree of serenity. If wishes can become fact, and wishing on stars can really come true, you would be healed in a moment! Love, Regina

Dan, we know you will get well soon. Let the spirit of your songs cure you, as they have done with us. ~ John and Clare Tully

Dear Dan, the depth of feeling is hard to describe as I read the many, many wishes for your recovery posted on this website. I thank God that someone had the wisdom to set this up so that we can attempt to tell you how very much you mean to all of us. My husband and I began following your music in the early 80's and you are so much a part of our history together. We've been to every concert you've had in the Chicago, central Illinois, and St. Louis areas. Our favorites, as said so often by others, are the ones where you and your guitar, and piano, share the beauty of your talent with an adoring audience. As the years go by, you and your music mean even more to us. One of our most special memories is what we experienced at one of your acoustic concerts in Peoria. You ended the concert with "Same Old Lang Syne" and as we left the Civic Center, it was indeed, softly snowing. The special peace we felt was a soulful experience. God has blessed us with you, and we know God will continue to bless you as you recover. A simple thanks from a very full heart. ~ Bonnie in Springfield, IL.

Dear Dan, I just want to thank you for all of your beautiful music and lyrics that I have loved for many, many years now. Life does tend to throw us a difficult time now and again but continue your fight and know that there are a lot of us out here praying for you and thinking of you and your family and friends. ~ Shawn Dietrich from Marcellus, NY

Dan - you have always been a "star" that shines bright! I know this is just a set back and that you will pull through this fine. You have shared with the world your beautiful gift of music and will continue to do so. I truly believe that God is just testing his "musical angel." Be strong and best wishes to you and your family. ~ Roxy

The joy is in the journey...even the dark tunnels of unknowing. God bless.

Dan, wishing you a full and rejuvenating recovery. Life is in fact a roller coaster ..... the lows really help us to appreciate those wonderful highs. Wishing I could help you out of this low as your music has helped me out of mine from time to time! ~ Nancy (Georgia)

Dear Dan, Thank you so much for all you have done for me and many, many others through the years. I (like many other messages I have read) have all of your CDs and have bought multiple copies of some so that I can have them with me at all times. I have found myself in recent troubling years just listening to your music and not the radio music -- the radio quality has really taken a nose-dive into bad waters. The only radio I listen to now is Amy Goodman, Alternative Radio, and Free Speech Radio News. So, I depend on your music almost completely. I was very excited to see your new album "Full Circle" and bought a copy immediately. I have truly enjoyed it -- thank you.

I was just browsing your website and saw your note about your cancer. I am so sorry you are having to undergo that fight. Please know that I and all of your fans are wishing you a complete recovery and lasting health. You have been a large part of my life and continue to be. I was very fortunate to see you in person/concert at Amarillo, Texas years ago. You were the true pro then taking over and playing solo when your band's flight was coming in late and you continued to play without breaks for almost two hours!! It was a remarkable performance. Thank you Dan -- my best wishes go out to you and your family -- you are in my thoughts and prayers. ~ Trish Williams-Mello

Dear Dan: I always tell people that your music has been the "soundtrack" of my life: college; first loves; work;happiness:lonliness; joy and melancholy. To anyone who will listen, I also say that you are first and foremost a poet. Luckily for all of us, a poet who is a magical musician. Best wishes to you and your family. Thank you for everything you have done for me. I wish I could do something for you. ~ Lucia, Minneapolis

Dear Dan, After reading so many well wishers' letters I am struck by how deeply and truly your fans can express themselves, with great thanks given to you and your music. You are a blessed and fortunate soul and I have no doubt you will draw strength and inspiration from this whole ordeal. I have had cancer 15 years ago at the ripe old age of 27. Your music helped more than you will know. I now consider my ordeal to be a distant thunder that affects everything I do. I greatly look forward to bringing my two daughters who are 5 and 7 years old to many of your concerts, so stick around, and may you soon be listening to a very distant thunder. Thanks for letting us in and we will see you soon . ~ Tim Guldemond Newburyport , Mass.

Today my five year old twins were jamming to some of your (not very) old songs and Willem told me that your music makes his heart sing. Zachary asked if they could go to your concert at Chastain Park when they turn 6 this spring. It would be their first concert and the only one they'd be allowed to go to (unless Raffi decides to tour -- he's their second favorite). I told them I've loved your concerts practically my whole life (since Central Park, 1977). They are also learning about the internet, so we jumped on your website. Now you are in our prayers and we're counting on you to be here this summer. So heal. We'll see you soon. ~ JJ and the boys

Mr. Fogelberg, I have everything you have ever recorded. Your music has been such a blessing to me. I've had the joy and pleasure to see you in concert twice, once with your band, and once in a solo acoustic. I liked the solo acoustic best of all. You were brilliant. Fight the good fight, and never give up. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Thank you for all you have given me, even though you don't even know me. Sincerely,

Debbie Grace, Owasso, Oklahoma

Dan, I just logged onto your website to find music for my daughters. One wants to do her figure skating program to it, and the other wants to play guitar to it. I found you were still doing tours and I never got to see one. I am bummed. So you must get well very soon and give us another chance to see you. Your music was so popular at U.N.H. in the early 80's! I feel compelled to write and wish you and your family well. You are in my thoughts. ~ Kathleen Young

Dan, To you and your loved ones. Peace and Strength. We have been listening to your music since the seventies. Longer than all the fishes in the ocean and I know you will be around longer than we all ever knew. Best wishes and Godspeed.
